Just curious what some of you guys paid for your recent purchases.

How about listing what you bought and from where - dealer, ebay, or ??? - and how long ago.

Let's keep this to just new units and units not older than 4 or 5 year old. Thanks.

I will start by listing mine

I think if we keep this thread to new mowers and maybe nearly new mower purchases ---- Not the deal of the century used fixer uppers - This thread could be helpful to people wanting to buy new mowers and wanting to know if they are getting a good price from their dealer.

Also may go to show that it may be worth looking at one make or one model over another.... Example, look at the price difference between my Wildcat and Greenacreslawns Turf Tiger, which is the same size cut and same horsepower " '06 turf tiger. 61" deck/27 hp kawi. $8700.00." There was a 1200-1700$ difference in price depending on it he listed his prices with or without sales tax....

Also look at how much more to jump up to a foot wider deck and a diesel engine... "'04 Sabre tooth tiger. 72" deck/31hp briggs diesel. $14,000.00, same dealer."

So maybe some will get some help here with this thread. No one likes to go buy a mower, thinking they got a good deal only to come here and find out after the fact that someone else got the same thing for a grand less.

I don't believe dealers pay much different of a price for the mowers over other dealers in other areas of the country for the same make and model. I think it all boils down to how much the dealer is willing to discount for you.

Too much:hammerhead: :hammerhead:

This season I got my new residential 44 inch Dixon with catcher for $5020 or so. Thats SAD when I could have got a commercial version for like $500 or less more. Live and learn I guess. Next season I am thinking about getting a new one, put the catcher on it, and a mulch kit on the one I have. Then run catchers on both of them for cleanups.

I agree with ron as i think some dealers are stuck on themselfs or got big fancy new buildings to pay for and wont deal on price at all . Example when i bought the newest one went to dealer closest to me and ask for his best price out the door quoted 7994.00 06 model so i call another dealer no 06 to be found or so he said (* now mind you just looking at the Scag brand ) so i call another dealer about a hr away he had one at 7795 .00 i believe so i tell him to call his district guy and low and behold they call me back both the dealer and district guy and tell me they found one at 7300.00 ( same mower ) so today i go into dealer closest to me for something else and while there tell the sales guy i already bought a new one and he said well why didnt you come to me we can come down in price now errkk !!! Only 2 weeks transpired in this whole process !!! He didnt get first sale so now he is willing to come down in price ? i dont think so i think some dealers will take you to the limit and try to Rape you anyway they can , sure wish my old dealer still had the scag line as i got treated really great there .

Guys, please list horsepower, engine make, and deck size with your mowers! ChuckBow, I have no idea what size deck on your Scags, and Robbo521... I do not know much about JD to know anything about what you listed there!

and yes Chuck, it sucks that dealers don't just give you the best price to start with, but usually if you shop around and get the best price elsewhere, if you call the closest dealer to you and show him a written quote for the mower from this other dealer, he will match it or beat it. It is all part of the sales game....

All valid points, but Turf tiger costs more than a wildcat because of several differences. The wildcat is more like the tiger cub, which has smaller pumps and wheel motors, narrower track, higher center of gravity, vertical shaft engine, belt driven deck, more compact design, lighter frame, more modern design. I had a choise and for my needs, I chose the older, more heavy duty design which does cost more upfront. As for the Sabre tooth, it is heavier still. I could have bought a 72" turf tiger with 29hp kawi for $4000.00 and about 300 lbs less than the diesel. But I love that diesel power and economy, plus it rides better than any mower I have.

I know... I know! I know there is big difference in the Tiger Cub and the Turf Tiger.... I was just pointing out that there was a sizable jump in price for a unit that basically is the same as far as cutting deck and horsepower. Certainly did not intend to come off as my mower is better or the exact same as yours.

Keep em coming guys, and please once again, list the deck size, engine size, where you bought it, and indicate if the price you list was with or without sales tax!!!!

Used prices are fine too, but just keep them to fairly new units. If 5 different people end up posting in this thread that all have bought the same make and model of a used mower, you could look at their prices they paid to get a good average price figure to expect to pay for one if you are looking to buy one. Also might help sellers better be able to set a reasonable asking price for their unit if they ever decide to sell.

I would rather we kept this thread to mowers only, not blowers and so on. Maybe someone else could start a thread for those.

Late last winter i purchased a used walker mower from someone on this site, pd 6500, it was a 2003 26hp 48" deck ghs plus got a 60" deck with it. After the first of the year I'm buying a 2007 walker 26hp 48"ghs mower gonna run in the neighborhood of $10,500.00 with tax. At another dealer for the same mower they want about $1,000.00 more.

I just came from 2 dealers today
exmark lazer xs 60" with 31 hp briggs
Dealer 1 $13,300 with ultra vac triple bagger
Dealer 2 $12,750 with ultra vac triple bagger must take by saturday.
I do have a 01 lazer 27 kawi liquid cooled that I bought in jan 05 for $5,000 with 1100 hours on it with triple bagger.

I talked down both of the dealers today
Dealer 1 went down to $12,600 including tax and nothing down
Dealer 2 went down to $12,500 plus tax 5% = $13,125

Mowers That I own over the years,

2003 Simplicity Regent 16hp 44in deck out the door $2,500 I loved this tractor I sold it because it was to small for what I did, but want to buy another one just for me to do my lawn striped nice and a nice cut.

2004 Dixie Chopper XWF2700-60in out the door $8,900

2004 Simplicity Pacer 34in out the door with bag kit, and mulch kit for $1,800 one nice deal for being a hydro, and it striped nice and gives an excellent cut even threw 1.5ft tall grass and still use it today and will for many more years until it dies.

2007 Dixie Chopper SP2800-60in out the door $11,500 this is a nice mower but won't buy another one because it is to much money to just have an employee ride around on, it's nice when it comes to fall when it is cold out starts right up on the first start.
