Do you charge customers for spraying roundup at the curb or include it with the price of lawn service? Or do you let them take care of spraying it themselves? I have been trimming it if needed, but getting tired of that.

Unless you have a pesticide license and comply with tagging regulations you probably cannot legally apply Roundup. Even though you may not charge extra for doing it. With that said, I find that it is a bunch cheaper for me to Roundup the grass in the curb joint than it is to trim it every week or so.

way i do it, is in the spring i go after the curb with a shovel. we do that and it severely cuts down on weed growth. then when the weeds do start to grow, it isnt so bad, and also trimming doesnt take much time.

I consider it an "add-on" item, I would try to sell them ornamental weed control, or if all your interested in is the curb, add a a couple of dollars to the cutting price and sell it as a package; mow, trim, blow & roundup curb. I assume you have any license that is required, so you might also want to mix roundup and sahara for the curbs, that way you spray once a season (more profit).

Round-up isn't a restricted use herbicide in Ohio this year. They sell it in Wal-Mart. Anybody can spray it here.

Dave, just because its not restricted use, doesnt mean you can legally spray it.Roundup never has been restricted use,as far as I know.It is in walmart for homeownwers who use it on their own property or propertys they rent, that does not mean you can use it,just because its there. If you are doing it for hire,or on anyone elses property,it is a commercial application.Commercial applications in NY require a license, doenst matter if its roundup or not.It is a pesticide if it kills something, roundup kills grass,so it falls under the pesticide laws. You dont want to get caught doing this, big bucks in fines.

Yea Dave! If not you better get one of those stealth backpacks that looks like a shirt & tie so you don't get caught.

For my contract customers, spraying weeds is included. I have a couple mow only and they pay for extras such as herbicides.

Here in NC you need a Pesticide License to spray. We receive a Pesticide Update every quarter from the NC Dept of Agriculture. There were 47 violations in NC listed in the last one we received; several for not having a license. They pay a hefty fine if they are caught.

I have mine and keep it up to date. It was relatively easy to get and maintain.

Same here in Fla. you must have a license to spray any pesticides, including Round-up. I got pulled over last year with a warning. 2nd offense is 5,000.00 fine. Third they take your equipment. Not worth it. I just sub it out to a licensed company until I can get my license. That's what kills me though, you can't spray Round-up on private property, with the owners permission, but they don't seem to check to see if you have a license to operate a lawncare business. A license is a license, I thought. Sorry, venting again.

This is a service that is included in my mowing price. Just curbs and sidewalk cracks. If it is a landscape area then it is charged.

I kind of forgot about that little clause about "other people's property". I'm dependent on the man who does chemical applications for me. "Though I have sprayed a little Round-up and Hyvar here and there. I appreciate the reminder.

$500 first time caught. or only a warning, almost seems worthwhile to take the risk. in all probability, the 60 seconds it takes u to spray the curb and walkways, there will not be a state agent driving by.

I know guys that have been caught and written a warning with no follow up whatsoever.

Here is a question : Where do you stick the pesticide flag ? I usually put it close to the sidewalk, but by then it's too late anyway.
