View Full Version : Kees ZTR 52 spindle pulleys

I have a question about my spindle pulleys on my Kees ZTR 52..mine have 2 set screws on each..ive put lock tight on them,but they all come loose and wallow out the key slot..My dealer says thats the type of pulleys they(KEES) use's now..I think it B.S

What do you do then? New spindle shaft and pulley? Are you talking a lot of hours between failures? It does have a key doesn't it, not just set screws? You're not greasing them or using Anti-sieze or something are you? That'll cause them to worry out the key slot. The set screw just needs to be tight enough to hold the key in place. The key does the work. The shaft may not be hard enough. Instead of new shafts, take the old ones to a machine shop to have them welded, turned and a new key slot cut. The welding will make it harder in that area. Just take the pulleys to the machinist too, and he can custom fit an assembly that will never worry out.
