Nice to have a day of vacation today! Anyone else relaxing? I just went out to get my newspaper and I saw another company with the mowers in the trailer. Anyone actually working today?

Is there really such a thing as a day off when you don't even think or talk about this business. I THINK NOT!

Homers mowing is shut down today, no work. Gonna do the fireworks thing tonight, grill some boigas and duwogs on da grill. Got the walamelon chillin' in da fridge. Am I caught up? Why heck no I ain't. Do I care today? Look in my eyes and see if you see any give a XXXX. I worked on my 21st anniversary the other day, the least I can do is take this one off. That grass will be there tomorrow when the store is opened back up, just be a little taller than it already is!
Married 21 years............hard to believe that one!:p I must be a good husband:angel:
Happy 4th..................enjoy it.

Congratulations Homer.
I take off every 4th and do the grill out thing and if I had a boat I would do the lake thing. Probably go to a local bar and watch their fireworks show on the lake tonight. So far its been a good year so this will be far more relaxing of a day than last year. Sure I will think about work and have done some paper work this morning but no maintenance or touching lawn equipment. Okay I did touch my tractor LOL but i didnt start it.
cant mow here its raining

Yep always take the 4th off.
We are leaving in a little bit to go to a cookout at my brothers house.
Hopefully it won't rain so we can swim.

Well, we're not working in the lawns today, but I'm using the blower and a shovel to finally get a little house cleaning done, catch up on the laundry, plus perhaps a little paperwork, but I consider this a day off. By dark, Dr. Crown may stop by and it'll be time to relax.
Have a happy 4th everyone :)

Bill.................you have to use a shovel and blower to clean your house? I know mine gets dirty from time to time but never that bad!
I did use a shovel and blower in my shop last night, been a long time since I cleaned that up.

No work today here, just relaxing, cleaning also
Its Independance day not just the 4th of July to me.
Thank you to all who Respect the Flag and Country with no sound breaking noise with machinery.
Gosh oops made me realize its my granddaughters birthday in 2 days lol
thanks a heap
happy holidays
Just about to head out in the boat. Do some wakeboarding and skiing, then drive the boat over to watch the fireworks later on. Its a "lake day" not a "lawn day"!

All employees have the day off, however I'm in the office at the house preparing for a huge presentation we have next week. Peace and quiet (except for TV with The Godfather on) so I can get alot done.
Cook out this evening, and fireworks later.
My kind of relaxation.....

I started mowing at 10 am and finished at 4 pm. This is a short day for me. I'd would have loved to have done one more lawn but the rains came. I did sell a big fertilization job today and all is great on the Potomac.

No work today for me, as much as I wanted to!!!
Too many cookouts today!!!! I could see me pull up with my equipment
and mow around the kids, lawn chairs, beer cans, DRUNKS, grill, fire crackers, bottle rockets, and other assorted 4th of July party accessories. My luck the kids would be shooting the bottle rockets at me and I would get fired because i showed up on THEIR day off. Would never think of working today!!!! Have a great evening. Be safe!!

I worked a bit this morning.
Planted at one job.
Mulched another.
I was sneaking around at daybreak trying to get done before 9:30am
Then went to the beach...

The 4th is a paid holiday, we don't work. I did the bar-b-q thing with friends -it was great!!!
I took the day off too. Celebrated my grandfather's birthday (Uncle Sam wasn't the only one born on this date) with the family...eating tons of catfish and hushpuppies...yea!
My uncle's company in Detroit mows a housing project and mowed on the 4th last year.....one of his new guys on a Dixie Chopper covered some guys ribs (on the grill) with clippings....almost started a war! Between that and avoiding the drunks and their tossed bottles he decided to relax on the 4th too...heheheh! :D
Be safe and enjoy the holiday everyone! :)

Well I wish I could say that I took the day off. I just got back around 7:00. I had hope to get done earlier but I got a late start. I wanted to take the day off but I did not work on Monday so today is just another workday for me.
Tonight is no different. I am working on the honey-do list. We have a cook out/pool party planned for Saturday evening with friends. No rest for me this week.

I did 4 lawns today. The people were all out of town and the lawns are in the country so no bother to the neighbors. Worked 8-12 so not too bad.
If I had not injured my hand this past Sunday I proballly would have taken off. I have my son helping me to try and stay caught up. It's been a very tough week so far. I will be so happy when I finally heal. Being solo and injured sucks!!!
eric, the wall is the point your body says stop and rest
or im gonna drop you somewhere.we probably deal more with
it in the heat down here.course then we dont have to shovel
much snow in the winter.sometimes i kinda wish i had
a ready made winter job like the snow plow buisiness, laterTM

No work for me yesterday. I took the fam. up to see our families in Spartanburg, then we had a hash dinner at her grandma's. After that five of us guys went down to lake Greenwood and fished. Got to see the fireworks out on the lake. You can't beat that.

Took the day off, of course. BBQ/Fireworks at my sister's house in the next town. The missus and I came back about 10:30 last night, and the party was still going. The whole street where they live was lit up with fireworks. Never seen anything quite like it...
I left early to be ready for work today. Of course, I'm not. ;)
