We use Scag's. I am looking for opinions on what you use, and what is the best out on the market. Give me advantages and disadvantages. We think SCAG's are the best mower that we have ever used. so if you can please give me soem input.

we used to use snapper mowers, and compared to scag there is no comparison. I have also used a exmark, and i will put my scag up to anyone and there exmark. I can make a better looking cut and a much better strip. We got our scag's at klei mower on colerain ave.

that is a pretty bold statement to say your Scag can cut better & stripe better than anyones exmark. I too use scag & am very happy with the cut, but I would not go so far to say my scag has a better cut than any exmark. Also, I bet you do feel there is no comparison with Snapper, but dont include other brands with your dissatisfaction with snapper.

We use Hustler Hydro W/B and a Toro Z-255 which will soon be traded in on a Hustler Super-Z. The Hustler W/B is pure grade A tank material and will out cut the Toro Z. The striping capabilities are much better on the Hustler. I love my Toro but the Hustler is a better machine.

:p Ive used scag, toro and Snapper 52s Hydros and my best cutting walkbehind is the Snapper it out stripes my scag and cuts much better, I do run doubles on it and also on the scag, But those pistol grips are so uncomfortable i love Snappers Loop Steering its the best, and i have one with over 4600hrs and only reg maintaince 16hp Vanguard with no problems its a 93 brought it new. I figured out yesterday how to make a scag cut great. Run 2 of them, one behind another. That is was I saw, I guess when the 1st one plows it down, the other one can give it a finished look. Good luck at getting a scag to out do an exmark.

Listen,

Everyone is going to have what they think is the perfect mower. That's why they bought it.

It doesn't do anyone any good to trade personal insults, so lets put the smart remarks to rest.

Note: the post has since been removed, but I'll leave this here as a little reminder to all of us to keep it nice ;)

I too think scag is a great machine.my ultimate 48 cuts great and leaves my lawns looking like a million bucks.but i also have a bobcat ztr that comes off the trailer first at most jobs. I never wanted to buy it but the price was right and i needed a rider badly. I have to say most high end commercial machines if set up right [ blades, deck, tires, engine] all cut pretty well. would i buy another bobcat ?........yes

Sounds a little wierd but we now have in our arsenal, a scag 32", toro 52", great dane chariot 61", and soon a surfer. My toro lacks on the speed and cut and im not satisfied with it at all. Its under powered and has a low blade tip speed that effects the quality of cut. I know the newer ones are much better but from this one, my opinion is no more for me. The scag is a great machine with an excellent cut and very reliable, the chariot, the best cut of all our equipment and is an excellent well built mower, i would buy another. The surfer is another excellent machine in my opinion, we have only ran it for about 25-30 hours but it has drastically reduced our mowing times on our commercials. All in all the toro is the only one im not real happy with and alot has to do with the weak motor, and i think it was well said above when someone wrote, all machines that are properly set-up have a good cut and mow well. I have no plans to switch from dane to any others, from here on out it will be all dane i have a great dealer and the equipment is very good also, unless some unseen problems arise i see no need to look elsewhere if we are happy here.

The "Scag bashing" perplexes me when I know that Scag's reliability, quality and efficiency have played a big part in the success of our business. I know that there are other very well built pieces of equipment out there (and have demoed most of them), but I too would put any one of my 12 Scag's up against any other machines on the market.

You have to have read all the posts this member has posted to understand what is going on with this. Below is the first post this member posted on Lawnsite and he did make a pretty bold statement and there is nothing to back up what he has said. There should be something about longevity, why he feels it has the best cut, .......... You get the picture. Instead it is the opposite which is below. Now maybe you can understand why other members are defending their equipment. This post was on the thread Scag or Exmark and there is a pole there. This is the link to it. http://www.lawnsite.com/showthread.php?threadid=17060

I have never owned either machine, so I am completely neutral on this topic. I am just trying to make you understand what is going on.

look here ppl, i don't know what kind of yards you cut. but around here we cut grass, and for the best cut u best buy a scag, nothing compares to a scag. I will put everythign on the line that scag is a better mower than ur lil exmark thing.

Hoss, you did miss something and so did I. I was busy last night setting up 2 moderators at Plowsite and we ran into problems. I just reviewed a post that got deleted from this thread by a moderator last night and I feel this is going no place and it is time to bring this thread to a close.
