Danner® Frontier Sport 6" Hikers $159 from Cabelas. These boots have been the best for me. I've worn them everyday working for over a year and they look like they are 2 weeks old. They are very durable, hold up strong, and don't tear apart. Excellent choice to consider.

my uncle uses Climbing Steel Toe Red Wing Boots, because hes an arborist. I use the 6" classic style, base style Timberland. I know alot of people, that dont like them and say there way over rated. But i personally think Timberland are the best. I have a Casual Pair to, same 6" base style boot.

I have a pair of lace to toe smoke jumpers. I've had them about 6 months now. Most comfortable boots I ever owned. But definitly need to be careful lacing. I am so used to pulling hard on laces to snug up boots. Cant do that with these. Expensive but worth it.

That is what I currently have, but it will be the last pair. I formerly wore Carolina work boots, wearing out a pair about once per year. The model of Carolina I was wearing got removed from their lines, no longer offered.
I bought the Rocky, and they have worn very well. However, they don't give nearly the support of the Carolina models.
I bought a pair of Timerland Pro for wearing around the house last Winter, and am wearing them again this Winter. They will be put into everyday service when the Rocky boots finally give out. The Timerland Pro is very comfortable, and give great support. How well they wear under heavy use, I will learn in the first year.

Nobody understands the comfort until you have a pair. Nobody understands the price until you comparison test brands. I had to get my Smokejumpers when I needed an ANSI rated steel toe boot. Most of the guys in the company got Red Wings for $200, and I got White's for $350. They were all on their third pair of $200 Boots when I finally broke down and got my first rebuild. That is the difference between price and value.

Couldn't agree more. Whats nice is you trace and measure your feet they send you a pair of boots that is handmade by a skilled craftsmen in the good ol usa. Take a little longer to brake in because they are made from a stiffer stirder leather. The longer you own them the better they fit. How do you like the packers? Thinking of getting a pair. Only thing I dont like is the waiting to get them (6 weeks).

F350,
I like my packers, same great comfort and classic lace up styling. These are the boots that everyone else like Justin copied when they made the first lace ups that became popular. Packers have the Vibram "Chevron" sole on them, so they don't grip quite like the Smokejumpers do. Check the White's website and see if they have a dealer near you. I have a White's dealer about 15 minutes from me. My next pair is going to be a pair of White Pacs waterproof boots.

Maybe just me but you'll get use to them and they last.
I just bought a pair of Redwings that are the most comfortable work boots I have ever owned...waterproof and a very clean tread pattern so I am not tracking a lot of snow or mud into and out of the truck or house. I also have a Nike ACG (All Conditions Gear) hiking shoe low top for certain hot summer jobs.
I have been able to field test a lot of hunting boots through the hunting publication I also work for and I want to mention that Danner makes a great hunting boot, but I am not sure about their work boots. The $80 Rocky boots just don't compare to a $200 pair of Danners. My brother is into the Rocky boots and he goes through them way too fast. To me, if you have the cash to spend on a high quality boot right away, that is better than having to buy multiple pairs of a lower quality boot.
But a comfortable boot for one may not be comforable to another... to each his own...

Thanks. I had to order from them. No dealers around here.
For mowing, I usually get the cheapest sneakers I can find. For other work...
I used to wear Herman Survivors, until the quality changed about 10-15 years ago. Then I switched to Timberland. They cost more, but lasted. They also needed about a month of sore feet to break in.
Just for a lark, a couple years ago I bought a pair of Brahma boots from Walmart (about $25.00). The most comfortable work boots I have ever bought. Maybe it is just how my feet are, I don't know. A pair will last about 2 years for me.

I actually am wearing rocky's right now, I have tried others like wolverine dura shocks and Carolina grizzly's I like the rocky's and the grizzly's the best so far. We are required to where steel toed boots at work so these have been the best choices in boots so far. But I also have a pair of nautilus safety toed shoes they look just like tennis shoes and feel like them also. Good for light work but I really like the ankle support of boots.

Lacrosse, very comfortable. Im surprised no one said this
I started out with Sketchers, they were durable but not very comfortable (not enough shock absorbtion for me), then I got a pair of Red Wings, they were AMAZINGLY comfortable, exceptional shock absorbtion, but I wore the sole's out after 2 years (because they are soft, but thats what helps make them so comfortable too), so I replaced them with the Lacrosse Quad Comfort 6", and have been using them now for 2 years and counting, but I had get rid of the Lacrosse insert after about 6 months and replaced it with the Red Wings insert (the inserts in the Red Wings were STILL better than what came new in the Lacrosse even after years of wear on them). I can tollerate the Lacrosse, and they are better than the Sketchers, but my next pair is deffinitly going to be another set of Red Wings.
That is just for the summer, in the winter I wear Rocky and Columbia (both insulated - different amounts) for the snow.

LaCrosse and Danner have an affiliation with one another. I mentioned in a previous post that Danner has great hunting boots and I agree with you that LaCrosse makes comfortable boots as well. Red Wing and Irish Setter are also affiliated with each other and make some great boots.

I used to wear Timberland but I noticed their quality went down once they became fashionable. (Damn shame too because I'd love to mow in pink boots:laugh: ) I was wearing through them way too fast, but I'm hard on boots. Now all I wear are Red Wings and they last me a solid year and then become a back up pair for when its real wet and muddy out, and they're still 100% waterproof. Red Wings are the only boots I've ever had that stay waterproof for the life of them which I think is very important since I'm out in the dew every morning.

I am extremely hard on work boots. I have worn the same pair of Ariat pull on work boots almost daily since the summer of 2003 and they are still holding up just fine. My girlfriend hates them because they look old, but they are the most comfortably broken in pair of shoes I own. I am hoping I can get one more year out of them. Because of the way I trim my right boot has turned a completely different color shade apart from my left boot.

Boppersims, I tried going that route thinking if they just held on for one year I would be financially ahead of the "work boot" game, but those kept hurting my feet so bad it wasn't worth the lower cost.
Everyone's feet are different. As I posted awhile ago, the Brahmas fit me better than a lot of much more expensive boots, and don't require any break in period for me. I have not tried the "top end" boots, maybe one of these years I will. Obviously a lot of people like them, from reading these posts.

I have a pair of converse steel-toed work boots. excellent tread in wet and dry conditions. have had them almost a year and no plans on replacing them anytime soon. comfort is never an issue with any shoe i wear. I have a set of heavy-duty custom-made orthopedic inserts. I could wear dress shoes and my feet wouldn't hurt. trust me I know about foot pain. that is what prompted me to get the inserts.
Shoes $90
Inserts $250
not worrying about foot comfort again $priceless$
