I have 4 fairly large oak trees (I think) that died and I've cut down and into reasonably sized sections. They're now stacked in the woods bordering my drive but from this point on I'm not sure what to do with them. Is there enough value in the wood here in Georgia for someone to want to come pick them up for free (or even pay for the wood) ?

Good idea on the free wood sign, except.....I don't want some clown tearing up the lawn and mulched area next to the wood backing in to get it. It's about 20-25' off the long drive I have, and knowing how people are these days that is exactly what would happen. Plus anything that wasn't primo they'd leave and I'd still have to do something with it.
I think I'll go rent a splitter.

Go rent the 12" chipper at around $300 and finish it off....

Split it and go to the local camp grounds. They always need firewood.

Well I wouldn't call tree companies........I'm in the same situation. Tree companies either go to the dump or chip but try a logging company.
I've got a couple acres of Pine I'm taking down and trying to get rid of so I don't have to chip so much.
Want some? Come and get it!

Around here I'd put a for sale sign on it and in a couple of days it'd be gone-MAJIC.
