Hard to remove Hydro filter

Is there a trick I'm missing? Exmark 52 TTHP, just can't get a good twist grip on the filter and normal filter tools will not fit up in there....

I use a wrench like this;

Got the one for large and small filters, Picked them up at a NAPA auto parts store. With using a extension to get your ratchet or breaker bar in a position to twist slide it up to the top of the filter by the threaded area to prevent crushing while removing.

i have one of those strap wrenches, they are very helpful and get a good grip on the filters
