Echo Cross Fire .105 is what we use in our Shindaiwa's. It isn't much bigger than .095, but seems to hold up much longer than .095.

.095 Square line I like any pattern. From Lesco

Echo .095 for trimming and .080 for edging. The thinner line leaves a smooth even line for edging plus the crossfire line don't seem to fuse as bad as others. Marks Mowing Service

.105 Square trimmer line. Square stuff seems to last longer than the round.

.095. The .105 is just to big and heavy, it seems to be too blunt. Whever I get a somewhat decent sized swath out, it seem to wave and twitch too much tearing up the ground at about 3 to four beats per second. Really wierd. With ROUND .095, I get a nice clean, crisp cut, and it seems to always have a clean wshhhhh sound like a table saw. That helps for a clean precise cut. I also like the round more than the square for fine lawn trimming because of the clean cut at the tip, however, the square is good for rough cutting like today cutting the overgrown stuff around the playground equipment at the park.

.080 round Shindiawa string. .080 takes less power to spin & gives
a cleaner cut than .095 & lasts about same as .095. ED

I would DEFinitely have to agree with that! That's what you call SLICING through it.

Thanks everyone for the input. I personally like the .080 its just that it seems we are always out of line . i might try the .095 or even the .105

Poulan Pro .80 5 point poly cut. Like square line, but with 5 sides. Stihl doesn't make anyting other than round line and that's the only power equipment dealer around me so I went to Lowes and picked this stuff up. Really good stuff. Lasts forever. I can get 2 or so hours on on spool. Let's just say I'll run out of fuel before I run out of line. I have noticed that it sometimes is too tough, and it doesn't give the greatest cut, but you just have to figure out where you need to cut the grass. The round stuff doesn't last for edging though and that's where the sqaure stuff is nice.

We exclusively use Echo's .095 crossfire line.

By it at Home Depot in 3 lb spool Comes a little cheaper than my Echo dealer. He gets about $13.00 per pound.

.065" trimmer line. :o

Then again, this is my Black and Decker electric GrassHog (GH400) 12"
trimmer/edger.

Bought it for home. :D

And that's the only piece of lawn equipment that I own currently! :alien:

So you want to know if mine is bigger than yours??? Just kidding, couldn't help myself. We use .095 but moving to .105. and why? Ive heard much better results at least where we are!

We just put a blade head on one of the trimmers. It is TOUGH to cut close on curbs! We have the metal blades. It also seems that lower engine speed cuts better.

I like the abscense of the string hassle, but it takes time to not destroy the blades on curbs or cut into the side of a house!
