I paid $10,500 for a 98 gmc 3500 4x4 dually dump with 78k miles that needed nothing but a good cleaning. It also came with a Boss V plow. I'd keep looking if I were you or at least have them knock off some on the price. Check ebay to see what they're going for.

If he has been carrying 4 tons of stone on a 1 ton truck its been abused keep looking. It needs brakes for a reason the truck has been grossly overloaded and the brakes have been burnt out because of it. Tires wear out quickly when they have been overloaded.

that truck should max out around 2ton payload...4 ton is way to much...he might be bragging that it can carry so much but all that extra weight is really straining the tranny, suspension, axles, engine, universals, etc...i might look around for something else

Is it a 3500 or 3500HD? A 3500HD can handle 4 tons much better, even though that is still a marginal overload. You didn't say which engine it had. The 7.4 gas is a decent motor but a gas pig, and the 6.5 turbodiesel can be a money pit. $13K would be an OK price if the truck didn't need any work but things like brakes can add up the $$$ real fast.

i believe it was he 3500 hd and it had a diesel engine
