View Full Version : Do you tell them how much you mulch per yd?

I have got some customers that are complaining about my mulching prices ( which most of you would laugh at) anyways I am thinking about going to a straight up mulch per yard pricing. I am sick of people trying to haggle with me, and frankly I am not worrying anymore about losing clients, if they want Paco or Jose they can go with him for $20 yd.
I am mulching at $50 a yd. Does anyone do this?

you will find that 50 per yard is low. Cost plus $30-$45. Depends on weeding and edging

i charge at least 75$ a yard

I raised everything to $70/yard mid-season. I always do my regulars in the spring so they will get that price this next go around. Per yard is the only way to go.

I get $60 a yrd. here

$50 p/yard here depending on the area. If there are trees, shrubs, etc. everywhere and it's hard to move around, it's more like $60 p/yard. I Buy it for $18 a yard and with labor it's between $50-$60.

you guys that are charging 60.00 -75.00 does that include weed pulling and re-edging of the exsisting beds?
01-27-2007, 03:42 PM
It includes spraying for weeds & knocking them down if they are really big. No bed edging as most of my beds already have a defined edge or are using a border of some type, whether it be plastic, stone, or concrete curbing. I don't ever pull weeds unless I have to & that is definitely extra.

I charge $55 per yard, and that does not include anything but mulch and install labor. Edging, weeding etc, are more...

The rule of thumb around hear is $55 pr yrd for dbl shreaded, $65 for dyed. All trimming, edging, preen, and weeding extra. Just make sure if you are using this method you measure twice...

edging and bed prep is extra, I usually send one of my guys to do the weeding and clean before we get there and I edge while they mulch

We charge more then any here has said but, we weed and do the edging. We will not do the job unless we get it all! It's our rep. that out there.

We charge anywhere from 55-85 per yard. Existing customers (full-service lawn accounts) get a discount. That price does NOT include anytype of weeding. We actually charge per lineal foot for bed edging, a per hour rate for weeding, and a flat cleanup fee for leaf removal/spring cleanup.

We charge $65-70 per yard for double shredded if the job requires over 15 cubic yards. Less than 15 cubic yards and it is $100 per yard.

I never tell any of my customers what I charge per yard or per hour. I give them a price per job.

I never tell my customers how much I pay for a yard or how much I charge them a yard. I send the bill to them with the final price. And on bidding I just got done with one and this is all I put for the price:
Total cost of job plus materials = $1,100.00.

I charge about $70.00 a yard and people don't even hesitate to pay it.
