GOT MY FIRST TRUCK!!!! 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x2 Extended Cab, 4.8L V8, Automatic, Tow Package, 64,000 miles. I just picked it up today so the picture is not the best because it is getting dark but feel free to tell me what you think of it.

I understand your point but i would rather spend the about $3000 difference it would have been on equiptment. Plus this was the lowest milage and nicest condition truck that was around my area that was in my price range, but this truck is really just to get me into the industry I have plenty of time to upgrade later on. I really dont think that 4x4 is going to be that big of an issue, ill just throw a couple big bags of sand in the back if need be:rolleyes:. The most snow we have had this year on cape is 2" so i dont think much of it.

I wouldn't say stupid, but just be careful with a 2WD in snow and heavy rain. don't go near mud, no matter how little there is. You will always get stuck lol! Trust me, I know from experience. With a longer wheelbase like that you will have a very light rear end. Sandbags, sandbags, sandbags. Most of all... have fun! That is a nice truck.

I'm not saying that the truck isn't nice.....we have all chevy/GMC's, I love them........but I will tell you that on our 2500HD's the back end is fairly light and if it wasn't for 4x4 we would have been in a heap of trouble with a ton of downtime. I know that you have had only 2" at most this year, but that is certainly not the norm, in fact it is quite rare for this time of year and as soon as you get a decent amount of snow it won't matter how many "sand bags" you put in the bed.......you WILL be sittin'

Good luck I hope it's big enough for you and all of your tasks during the year. We have two 2500 HD's and 1 3500 HD Dump and many times we were thankful for the 6.0 V8's, because I wouldn't want to abuse the 4.8 models. But if you are hauling a smaller trailer, it will be great for you. 4WD is overrated unless you plow

I can understand that too but I am not going to be plowing, and if I am in the situation where I really need to have 4x4 in the winter I can drive my moms Jeep Cherokee, because she does not have to use it if I am in that situation. So i think that I can work around the fact that I only have 4x2.

Looks like a nice truck!! Should last you a long time! Being that you live in cape cod, I would have definitly gone with a 4x4, no questions asked!!! JMO

Agree with you. Don't use mine for 95% or more of the time on a year, nice having it for those few times.

pgoulding, very nice truck you have there.

Being a Chevy fan myself I really like any chevy truck I see. I am personally saving up for a silverado myself since I am pullimg my equipment with a Chevy Venture minivan as of now. Living in Ohio, it is nice to have a 4x4 so I will most likely get a Z71 1500 Shortbed. Very nice truck, will last you many years to come, and be happy you dont have the two newer ugly body styles too.

sweet chevy man looks good, I got one too, had it now for almost 4 years, and tow a 4,000lb trailer every day and never had any problems. Oh and its a 4.3L v6. With proper tires and good driving skills you would be suprised what 4x2 will get you through.

Looks sharp. Some of my best pickups were 2 wheel drive.
