A couple questions regarding a 7.3 dieself 450 dump. The truck looks great, its a 5 speed but it has 193,000 miles. The guys asking $7500 for it. My question isn't so much the value of the truck but what does a rebuilt 7.3 engine go for if I had to replace it in 2-3 years time? The bed and hydraulic pump are new, but it is electric not pto. My dump trailer was electric and had no problems, but any input on that as well would be appreciated as well.

For 193,000 miles, I would pass on that truck at that price. $4500, maybe if everything else was in GREAT condition. No way would i spend 7500 on that truck!!

You can get a rebuilt 7.3 for about $2200-$5000 depending on where you find it.

If you are seriously considering this truck, take it to a mechanic, get it gone over and get a compression test done on all 8 cylinders!! JMO

What does the guy think it is gold plated ?

Thats awfully high for a 93 I bought a 88 F-450 it had 460 gas power a 11 foot dump but it only had like 150,000kms 93,0000 miles on it for 8000.

At most I would pay about 4500 dollars because if you have to replace the motor there is easy 3500 dollars for a short block. Truck prolly has the dual mass flywheel so you need to spend another 1000 dollars to replace it with a single mass flywheel and clutch.

I would pass the truck isn't worth it :nono:

i like the idi diesel. not knowing what your local prices are i can't say if it is a great deal or not. around here not great but not real bad either. some of the idi's did have problems. defnitly before buying take it to a good diesel mechanic and have him check it out. i have an idi with 248,000 miles. runs like a top. starts no problem even on the coldest days. its no powerhouse but just keeps on working.
good luck

Around here that is a good price. Diesels with 130,000 would go for 10,000 easy. I'm gonna wait on it and if its still around in 2 weeks I will probably take it to a mechanic and chop him down to 6500.

That truck has plenty of life left in it as long as the motor has no cavitation.
We have a '92 with 278,000 miles still going strong.

Well said. It amazes me the low prices I see for trucks on here. Different parts of the country. Matt
