I want to have a flyer that says a few things about me and my company then have my name and number that someone can rip off the paper. How can I do this in word?

You can't chage direction on freeform text. It has to be in a text box, Table or shape.
Here is the help
Change the orientation of text in a cell, drawing object, or callout
Click the callout, text box, AutoShape, or table cell that contains the text you want to change.

On the Format menu, click Text Direction.

Click the orientation you want.
