Hey,I'm planning on using part of my next paycheck to pay for a new weed-eater.I'm looking to spend between 180-250,but would pay a little more if it was a really good weed-eater.Any suggestions?

I don't know about you but our lawns are weed free (as of now).
So the <b>trimmer</b> I would recommend would be a Shindaiwa T260 or a T270
The T270 has alittle more power than the T260 but the 260 is lighter...
You might want to try and do a search on this one...
Redmax strato charged, two diffrent models that are strato charged to choose from.

Go with Redmax. Switched to Redmax 2 yrs. ago after running
Echo & Stihl. The Redmax equipment has given me no problems.
They start & run & run & run, the only thing stop for is more gas!!!

i would also suggest redmax, or shindiawa. however they may be a bit out of your price range. redmaxes i believe are about as much as a new back pack blower, and the shindiawa's the T230 i bought was almost 300 dollars. so be lookin to spend some good money on a good trimmer. for your price range you would be looking at something like a SRM 2100 from echo. possibly an SRM2400. but im not sure about that.

if you can get them in your part of the country i would try the Robin line of string trimmers we have been in bussines for 15 years and have run everything..... echo, green machine, sthil honda, kawasaki, redmax, etc. the robin string trimmers advertise more power to weight than anyone and i belive this to be true... so far there durabilty is excellant. so it may be worth looking into.
Shindaiwa T270, $400 and a little heavy, but it comes with a really nice shoulder strap.

I use a Husky 322L trimmer, it's very light but has plenty of power. It's the only trimmer I own. Two years of hard use {and abuse} and it has never let me down, not one problem.

Shindaiwa T230. Great trimmer for regualr use. If you need something for cutting stuff that is not maintained regularly, get a T270.

You should be able to pick up a Shindaiwa T-230 for around $250.00 or so. My local dealer has them for $219.00.

We keep 3 Shindawa T230s on the trailer and use them constantly. Will replace and buy a new one about every 2-3 years. Lightweight and powerful, I like em.

I like the Kawasaki string trimmers. Light in weight and I think they have a $50.00 trade-in bonus.

I don't want to beat a dead horse, but I'm gonna have to recommend the shindaiwa t-270. High performance, enough power to go through almost anything ... and these things just keep going and going and going ... (of course, I recommend that you change the head to the green machine type -- the larger, self-tapping spools hold more string then those little baby ones they come with and just feel more tank-like)
Spend the extra money and get a great piece of equipment.

Just purchesed a Hskvarna trimmer- like it better tha the Stihl I had used. Don't know why Husky's are not more popular.

Black & Decker? Oh wait.. this is a commercial forum. :D
I haven't had any experience with anything other than my Black & Decker for at home..
However, I'll be using a Craftsman trimmer in a few weeks.

I have Shindaiwas and Kawasakis. My current favorite is the Kawasaki KBL26. It is very light and has good power.

It all depends on which kinda weed eater you want, is the dealer close, can u get parts for it easily thats all the stuff u might want to think about cause u don't want to travel 40 miles just to get some little 2 dollar part or that but my choice would be either a Stihl or an Echo I have a stihl and it works very well and am plannin on either buying another sthil or try echo.
