What do you guy's use to lube your hedge trimmer blades? I have a Husky trimmer and am using the Husky UL 21 Lube. Only problem is it's $10.50 a can and doesn't last but about one trim job. I'm looking for something less expensive, but at the same time will not kill the shrubs. What do you guy's suggest and where can it be purchased? Thanks for you advice.

cooking spray will stay a while and acts as a pretty good spray greaser.just need to clean the blades sometime .as since it stays on it gets dirty.later now

For the zerks we are using the Kendall Blue. This is a great grease for high heat conditions and unlike many of the others out there we have yet to crack anymore gears since changing.
As for the bars, we spray them periodically with the ol' Water Displacement 40.
We can purchase both of these items from any Auto Parts Store. :D

Get chain saw oil. Its think and will stick to the blades.

DO NOT use WD-40, or any petrol based oils they can and will damage the plants. Use SILICON SPRAY only.

You are correct for sure......plants tend to shy away from petrol products.

Chain and bar oil for chainsaws however trees vs shrubs are veryyyyy different environments your working with.
Using a chain saw you are either taking down a tree or removing thick WOODY tissue which is far less susceptible to oil damage then thin leafy tissue found on hedges and shrubs. Heavy oils can damage these leaves either spotting them, discoloring them or causing them to drop.

horticultural oil...it doesn't damage leaves like wd-40 does.

Prolong spray lube has worked well for me, I spray it at fuel-up.

We use 3 in 1 oil. Never had a problem with damaged plants either. Russ

I don't really bother with the outside lubing of my trimmer. I use the FS-85T, with the trimmer attachment and it has the chamber for the grease, just screw it on and packthe grease in, no damaged plants and a trimmer that works like nothing else.
