JASON-- Just wondering, what kind of method do you use for weed control? I have a lady that wants her front lawn done, but it is a newbie and I dont really know what she had last year for weeds. Just wondering thanks. SCOTT

I use HAlts. Works pretty well. Then i wait a few weeks, aerate, then run the spreader with overseed, step 1 of scotts 4 step, and lime. Makes damn near a sod lawn every time:)

ya Ken i went to one. Worth the money in my opinion. They are put on by one of the teachers i had in the landscape design program they offer there. I recommend the landscape design program they offer as well, its a 2 year program that offers a certificate in landscape design and helped me alot! The nice thing is this fall semester the certificate program is suppose to turn into an actual landscape degree.

I spread pelletized fertilizer and as far as i know you dont need a license for it. Im not sure however about chemical fertilizer. Just remember you cant spread fertilizer within (forgot distance) from a waterbody.
Pesticides you need a license as a business, hoever a homeowner can spray thier own. Does't make to much sence to me. The pesticide book is huge as well just to study to get a license. You even need a license to spray Roundup as a business.

KINGSBURYLANDSCAPELLC
04-07-2007, 07:04 PM
Ya Alan the Scott's 4 step is fine. Honestly i have never been questioned about anything i have used in a spreader.
However, Be cautious if you do happen to use pesticides (including Roundup without a license ), neighbors could question/report your use and thats when it could become problematic.

Keith1981
04-07-2007, 07:20 PM
I was just about to ask the same question about fertilizer. Just wondering what you guys charge for labor on per 15000 sq feet of scotts.???

GreenMonster
04-07-2007, 07:31 PM
Guys, just so we're clear, Scott's 4 step is NOT ok if you're using Halt's crabgrass preventer or weed and feed.

You can apply straight fert in NH without a license, but you need a license for any pesticide including Round-up, Preen, crabgrass, pre-m, Weed-B-Gone (2,4,D) or anything else similar.

Not giving anyone a hard time here, just helping to clarify.

BTW, NH is a very difficult to get licensed in.

I think that next week may be the week that spring rolls around and people start to think about their lawns and summer projects. The snow last week really set everything back. Even the distributors are saying that it has been a very slow start to the season. People are just starting to get the summer itch.

yeah, i have family and friends who are self employed and are feeling the pressure right now. no one's spending any money...construction has slowed way down. our economy is based on consumer confidence and april is probably the most depressing month of the year. this thursday storm is really up in the air.

hey guys, if you are unable to get together to check out the organics let me know, i have some brochures i can put together with some business cards and some flyers, and i will mail them to you. i want you guys to atleast get some information on it, even if we arnt able to get together. its nice having coastal so close by we were able to meet up in no time.

Ya, that would be great HotSHot. Give us another week to see what we can pull together, then if no deal at this time i'll take you up on that. I'd rather just try to meet you guys in person and see everything as well.

What? No on-line bidding wars :D

No bagger, but it does have a sulky. I took it off though, kinda small machine for a sulky.

hmmm, price??? I'll have to look and see what I paid when I bought it.

I have a grass gobbler, never used in box. Fits a ferris 48" Dunno my fit yours.

I would separate if someone wants the machine without the sulky.

Give me a day or two NH and I'll figure out a price if you're interested.
