Run it until they are all worn off! It will work just as well, even when they wear down quit a bit. Best investment next to a blower for cleanups!

New here just came on a couple of months ago... Good site.. and it is good to see some people from NH on here. Im in the Carroll county area. Started the lawncare/landscaping small time about 12 years ago to supplement the income, but the past two years it has become almost my primary source of income as I started a small outdoor retail business that is still on it infant legs.. ie.. more money going in than I'm taking out...lol
I started focusing my energies into this side and have seen it grow, but as with all of us.. I'm always willing to learn more, and to get more accounts.
Just took on my second commercial contract and maintain about 24 residential properties ( always looking for more) throughout the year from small flower gardens, lawncare, property management, mulching, restoration and winter plowing, any advice would be appreciated.. And if I can offer any I will sure try..

F450-550 have bigger front/rear end - much, much larger brakes and yes will carry alot more weight (safely and legally)

Yes a big difference having a pallet of fert in a single wheel vs dual truck.Plus the Dmax has some power and more tq than the gas engines- Tq is the best part about diesel engines- JUST WAIT TILL YOU PUT A PROGRAMMER (CHIP) ON THE TRUCK 400hp/700tq really moves a truck.
You will want to get a set of guages for that truck- very important to watch exhaust and trans. temp esp when hauling/towing.

They're all great when the run, they all suck when they don't. They all make a chit run of something once in while, then go back to drawing board and fix it. aka, ford 6.0 diesel, dodge tranny, etc.
It's an age old debate that will never die. I just kinda started with Ford's, and overall, have had good luck.

6.4 diesel will make 490hp @ the wheels with a dpf delete and tunes:eek:
Ken -any diesel truck will pull better then a gaser any day of the week.

i've been hooked on the cummins since my dad bought a new dually in 94. only "problem" is is that mine are a lot louder, a lot smokier, and a lot faster.

you know, they all suck. they're all work. personally i like the ford truck (though i love my new dodge, i love the older dodge's but the front ends can never be stiff and wear the tires evenly). i've gotten sick of gm after working on them too much and have an attitude against IFS. BUT, basically buy whatever makes you happy and fits your situation... not what other people want.

Steady rain here all day- did 4 hrs of invoices (haven't done any since the start of the season 3-25-08:nono:) Then ran errands. It was pretty bad the radar on the phone showed- No precip. from 11am on yet never stopped raining/heavy drizzle

thats ok Joel, we know you could take a whole year off without invoicing people and it would only effect the # of businesses you buy out this year:p

I had no idea it was suppose to rain today...
Anyways, so lawn site is all about helping each other out. So i figured i would share a story from yesterday:
I get a call from one of my customers (a doctor!). He says that he has "burrowing chipmunks" diging up his lawn... ok. Then it was followed by the words "i think i took care of them though, but do you mind checking on it?"
And here is what you use to take care of "burrowing chipmunks"!
Just sprinkle it all over the lawn and put a box next to every plant in the beds and you'll be fine! And thats the proper way to deal with "burrowing chipmunks" if your customers ever get any.

Mark, dont see that pile getting any smaller lol.....
anyone interested in an enclosed trailer?
i'm toying with the idea of trading towards an open dual axle + cash to relieve some of my debt and do a custom built half dump trailer (HATE! throwing material into my personal/biz truck).
