I was really hoping to avoid buying a 32 or 36,,,,but a couple major
property managers are saying,,,"if you want this, you need to help on that".
Gated Properties,,,,So I am now looking for a 32 or 36.
Xmark, wright and toro have dealers in my area.
Has anyone been able to use a 32 instead of a 21?
Do you buy the biggest one that will fit thru the gate?
Anyone have a 32 and wish it was 36 and visa versa.
I like the Wright because I heard it does better on hill than a 36 WB ????
I know this is vague,,,but any input helps with this.

I always say, "why bother with properties with gates, its a wast of time." But if you have to, I would at least buy a 36''. Most gates can accommodate that, and it wont take you as long to cut as opposed to only having a 21'' or a 32''.

I use 21" mowers and a 36" mower. I do all residential. There is always a few lawns i wish i had a 32" because the 36" just does not fit in a yard. Gonna break down and buy a 32" this year.

This is real simple you make more money cutting small yards and if 32" fits all yards and a 36" doesn't buy the 32". Scag makes an fine belt driven WB and Standar has the best little 32" riding machine made. Market your business to one size and concentrate on that instead of buying a big load of equipment to do small and large yards.

I have a 32" Toro just for the reasons mentioned above. The 36's wont fit through every gate.

if my 36 won't go through a gate i don't do the yard. Most gates will allow a 36 to pass through no sweat.

Wright used to make a 32" and I think that they still do. I don't recall ever seeing it on their website. Your local dealer should be able to hook you up though.

I recently bought a 32" because my 36" didn't fit through a lot of gates where I mow. I think it depends on the types of neighborhoods you work in. I work in some very old neighborhoods. Lots of small gates. I think a lot of your newer neighborhoods have larger gates. If you buy the 32" you will be able to do everything the 36" can do plus the one's it wouldn't. If you buy the 36" you will have to use the 21" when it doesn't fit. I personally don't like using the 21".

thats what I paid out the door for my 32" toro belt fixed on tuesday. I had been using a 21" along with my 48" tthp. I measured ALOT of gates and most were 34". This mower will increase productivity alot. The 21" took too long. I am really glad I bought it. The dealer was great and the price was right. You have got to do what works best in your situation though

Howard, what brand 32" did you get? Did you get a good deal on it? If so point me in the right direction.

My 36" ExMark Phazer handles all the gated yards. But I kept my old Metro walk behind to use for properties with hills since the rider is not too good for that.

I bought a used 32" Exmark. It's dual hydro and has a 15hp on it. I really haven't had a chance to use it yet. I bought off ebay. I paid $1800.00 for it. I think that was a good deal. My other mowers are a 52" dual hydro Ferris and 36" belt drive Ferris. I have been very satisfied with the Ferris mowers. If you can afford it, try to buy a dual hydro machine. It will make your mowing so much easier. I wish my 36 was one. I think there are only a few companies that make the 32" and even less with dual hydro. I was very close to buying a 32" Wright Stander. I have heard lots of great things about them but the only negative thing I hear is that they have a tendency to tear up the grass when turning sharp. They are also a little heavy and some of my customers yards seem to stay wet and soggy. I was concerned about them sinking in the yards and leaving ruts from the tires.

Good Luck

Less competition on the small gate yards....everybody can and do wide gates!

I have a Wright stander 32" and love it. There is no place it can't go and the cut is super.Lower the tire pressure and it will make the ride a lot smoother. You cant go wrong.I got mine new for 4000 -cash deal/local dealer.

I started last years season with two 21" Honda's and two Toro 36's. The Toro's only got about 20 hours last year because I could only use them on three out of 60 accounts because of gates. This year I got a Emark 32 and will be getting rid of one of the 36" mowers. I figure I can still use one of the 36" mowers on front yards and use the new 32 for the back
