I am running a 60 in lazer with a 25 kol and it has a ultra vac on it and it is plenty of power.

If Horsepowerpower is a concern go with th 31HP Vanguard!

Do people really like these big Briggs Vanguard engines?

I have one with the 27 hp Kohler, I love it. Hardly EVER bog it down.

I am trying my best to figure out a way to trade my 04 27HP in for a 07 35 Horse and not have to live in my new 8.5/20 Enclosed trailer. Its got to happen I just need to work on that thang (my wife). That Big Block (31hp) has me ruined.

25hp will suffice. If you can afford to though, I would go bigger. 27 kohler, 28 kawi or my personal favorite, the 31 briggs vanguard!

i just bought a lazer z as 60 with the 25 kohler, havent picked it up yet, but i am eagerly waiting to get it. its my first z . i also got it with the ultra vac and mulching kit. it should cut down my workload and give me a better cut than my toro 52 walk behind.

25hp will be fine, I have both the 25hp and the 27hp version.
Im very skeptic about the Briggs Vanguard engines, just seems a bit unsettling to me I guess. Reliablility wise... im not a Briggs fan.

I bit the bullet and have had it over a week. 35 HP Vanguard is AWSOME. Do not be afraid. I had a pile of grass clipings that a previous company had left on the street that was 4 ft high and settled. When that XS finished there was only dust......................

I think when mulching with the 25HP you will find it to be a little underpowered.

Cannot be worse than a kohler. My 60 has the 27 kohler and it blows. Should have bought the Kawasaki, but didnt want to spend nearly 11K for the Briggs, which by the way is an animal.

I dont doubt the briggs has a lot of power. I just want to see how it holds up for the long haul. Im glad you all like them its just for 10k plus I wouldnt be buying a briggs personally (my choice).
My 25hp kohler works fine! And my 27 Kohler works perfectly fine as well. What all are you guys cutting that are having issues with these hp figures?

27 hp Bahia cut every 2 weeks with mulch kit=bog down after
31 and 35 hp Bahia cut every 2 weeks with mulch kit= cut pretty year round and today I mulched 12 inches of leaves packed for 1/2 acre no problem. 27 hp would definately bog bad. I dont start till 5 pm so I don't have all day. I run a 27hp,31hp and 35hp. Which do you think stays on the trailer................27hp
