What would you guys value used Christmas lights at as far as a percentage of the initial cost? I may purchase a large sum of c9 lights that are two years old max.

Is it c9 wire with the bulbs or bulbs only?
bulbs only 1-2cents apiece.
more than likely 1/2 will be burnt out or when installed burn out fast.
You can buy brand new for 13-15cents a piece if you look.

yes the wire comes with bulbs. He says the value of the lights when new was around 40k so what would you think? Something like 5-15% because like you I am sure some of it won't work when I go to put them on. Thanks

Are you sure they are only that old?
Why would he be getting rid of that many light strands unless they were at the end of their life expectancy or he had some huge job that he lost.
That is one heck of alot of c-9's for 40k new.

The guy is selling out his whole business. Mowers, accounts, lights, etc. He started the business 2 years ago so I know they are no older than that. He is moving and doing something different so that is the reason for the sale.

I know a few things about Christmas lights. If he removed all the bulbs from the sockets prior to taking down the lights then you have a greater chance of the bulbs still being good.

For a price on good C9 bulbs check out http://www.actionlighting.com

I buy from them all the time.

Were these strings "made" from bulk cords or are they just small strings of about 25 feet? What is the total length and bulb count?

You will find you can make a lot of stings of lights for a couple of thousand dollars.
