Hello, I am new too the business and was wondering the proper way too start my 1999 Lesco 48" hydro. It has a level for the choke, a key with on, off, start, and a button too push for the engine too turn, and a switch for neutral on/off. What are the steps too start this mower. Do I turn the key from ON too start then hit the button too turn the engine.etc
thanx alot for any help

make sure its in neutral, pull the lever to the full choke posistion, make sure the neutral locks are on, on the handles, and the brake is on, turn the key. and start her up.

it could be a number of things. it could be flooded. it could be plugs , it could be the starter.

Why is thier a switch for neutral on and off, I am not talking about the handles. Should I adjust the choke when trying too start it? thanx raven

I put choke all the way open, swtich the key from on, too start, then push a button too turn it while I have the key over too start mark. It just make the sound of when your car is just about too start. Its turning and making a noise but not really starting. Thier is also another switch that you can click on and off that says neutral. I have the choke lever all the way open?

If it is "not really turning" you may have a weak battery. If has been a while since you started it get you some starter fluid, (any auto parts should have it) and shoot "just a little of it in the carb" and I mean just a little. It should fire on the first hit of the button. Be very careful of the starter fluid because it is very explosive if you expose it to flame or spark. MOve the can clear of the mower before attemting to start it. Good Luck Hope this helps....

I feel your pain! Just call Lesco and give them your mower info (model #, etc.). They should be able to get you running in no time!

starting:
1. put in everything neutral, make sure brakes are locked and blades are disengaged.
2. pull choke
3. hold key switch to start and push button
4. release or move key switch to the on postion
if engine wont start:
If strong smell of gas is present its flooded. if engine is struggling to turn over your battery could be weak.

if it turning over but not starting check your spark plugs, they may have fouled out

I hear ya I wouldn't own a lesco or anything else made by MTD. I like my Toro's and they run and cut great and never have problems starting or anything else besides regular maintnance.
