leaf blower noise

A new bylaw has been passed to ban leaf blower use here in Vancouver, BC, Canada. This takes effect in 2004.

How does one get around this problem?:confused:

What is the deal with the attack on leaf blowers. I can't use my leaf blower for 5 to 10 minutes to blow of a walk, but I could ride a harley with straight pipes through that same neihborhood. What is the deal? Seems like legistlators need something to do. Next it will be the trimmers and mowers. Were is an industry lobby when you need one. I just read something in a trade magazine about the city of Houston banning use of outdoor power equipment in 2003 or 2004 until after something like 1:00 in the afternoon (don't quote me on the numbers). Do people really think that we are responsible for the bulk of the pollution or noise in a city. How will the lawns get down. It is time the equipment manufacturers get nasty with these groups, or they won't have any customers to sell their products to. Lets get serious. This is total BS.

Bryon... I am not sure how to get around this... who's responsible for this? New Democrats? BC has been in a downward slide for years now...time for people to take a stand...need a group(MANUFACTURES INCLUDED) to fight this all the way to the supreme court.

Is there a DB rating for the bylaw or is it just all blowers. What about jack hammers and the like? No noisy garbage trucks in the mornings?

On the local news a Town was bragging that they are trying chemical free lawn and concrete treatments for Town properties this year. They are using water heated to high temps and sprayed onto grass to kill it, they also have a mix to kill weeds in turf areas. I wonder how long the gas engine has to run to heat the water to the high temps needed? Oh wait gas fumes are good for you as long as it's after 1:00 pm.

my oldest has become a full blooded liberal socialist.
course he had to cause dad absolutely can not be right.
thats one of the rules.seems like i remember being same way with my dad.
