B&S, Honda, & Robin all have engines that will fit that deck. My choice would be Robin, if available in your area. Check with local Snapper dealer to see what is available.

We have replaced three of the engines on our Snappers. We rarely use them, so we replaced them with Briggs engines. The only problem we experienced is having to retrofit the shutoff cable to make it work and the speed control. We also had some problems with the engines clearing the grass chute. We had to buy the newer chute with the cutout in it since the Quantum engines have quite an overhang.. If we had to use the mowers more often, we would have put the Robin engines on it.

Tecumseh makes a good 2 stroke that will fit on that Snapper. ED

Ed, you made a good point. We have a Snapper that has a Tecumseh two stoke with a two stage air filter. It works the best and seems to have a higher blade speed and as a result a better cut. It also saves all those oil changes.

The Tecumseh two stroke engine isn't built any longer. You may find a dealer that may have them in stock yet though. The part numbers for the complete engines are 800166 and 800169. The 166 had a 7/8" crank and the 169 has a 25 mm (1 inch) crank. IF you can find either you can get the different blade adapter very in-expensively from any Snapper dealer. If your looking for a limited use engine and want to save a couple of bucks Tecumseh makes a 6 horse overhead valve engine for that unit as well. Part #106130. Hope this helps.

I have a snapper v212p lawn mower with the manual start 3.5 horse B&S engine. I think it only needs a new/rebuilt carb to get rolling again. Any ideas where i can order one, and what the cost would be?

Regards,

Scott

I have been using used old Snappers for years. I just buy new B&S 6hp IC's every 2yrs and keep on going. I use the non throttle set up and wire the engine stop up. Also use the blade with wings, cuts and bags the wet grass.
