My Shindaiwa T270 started running awful about a month after I got it. I removed the spark arrestor and now it runs great. Actually, I don't think that small engines are required to have spark arrestors, but maybe it's a 2 cycle thing.

Most all 2 stroke equipment has a spark arrestor, because it's a law that they have them in California. Don't get caught with it missing in California. I have heard the fines are huge if you cause
a forrest fire. ED
