I was told by my local dealer a while back that the new machines would have catalitic convertors on them.

I saw all of the new Red Max stuff at a dealers demo days, and it looked good. All motors are California certified so they are quiet and have good fuel consumption. They seemed to be a bit heavier than my older trimmers, but did seem to be solidly built still.
My B260 and B262 have been going for 11 and 8 years respectively. I would buy another Shindaiwa/Red Max without hesitation.
