I have a commerical property that has a Hunter Pro C controller with 4 stations. The first thing is that the LCD display is going out on the controller, is there a part to fix this or do I have to spend 172 dollars from John Deere Landscapes and replace it? The second question is that the other day probably about a 8 days again I began to manual start the stations all the stations worked fine. Yesterday, I did the same trying to program them. Now stations 1 and 4 work but are skipping 2 and 3. Can I fix this myself or need to call someone. I am not a irrigation specialist I just know some of the basics. And if there is anyone is Mooresville NC that would like to come fix this let me know

Any date on the controller, as far as a warranty replacement goes?

I doubt the controller has a warranty the building has been here for about 3 or 4 years and it was installed when built.

Irrigation warranty is a funny critter. The fine print says that the products are warranted to the original INSTALLER, not the property owner. That being said, the Pro-C is a 5 year product with Hunter. Any good repair guy who does a reasonable amount of Hunter buisness is going to get a new controller for the controller you have.

I am guessing it would be cheaper and best in the long run just to replace the controller. You can find the Pro C with 6 zones for $100 at sprinklerwarehouse.com

If I replace the controller will stations 2 and 3 work or is there something wrong with the wiring.

Get an electrical tester and open the faceplate. Turn the controller on to the zones you are testing put the probes to the common connection and the zone # you are testing. You should get about 24 volts. If nothing then controller needs replacing.

where in NC are you?
we are on the coast and have seen similar problems when the controller is outside and the door has been left open and water has gotten inside.
if you are close by i'll more than likely be able to get you a warranty if the date code is within 5 years..

If you end up replacing the controller, you should put in a nicer controller like a rainbird esp. The Pro- C is a piece of junk.

I have replaced many esp controllers because the display has failed, the buttons have failed and the dial no longer corresponds with the programing of the controller.....

ESP4C's right?

Rainbird got it right with the ESP-M. I've installed hundreds and had maybe one or two be bad.

The ESP-4, ESP-6, ESP-8 and si's in the early 90's was the controller I installed. I started having problems with the LCD, buttons and the dial. Then I switched over to the Rain Dial and used that for over 10 years until toro messed that one up. In early 2000 Rain Bird changed to a bigger LCD and better buttons. Overall the esp was a reliable controller but had its problems but now it is discontinued along with the RC......:confused:
I replace Esp controller with the Modular now...The Pro-c is my standard install now.
