Cool Ronnie, just lemme know when you wanna get rid of it and the $$$ you want for it. Yeah, for the amount of salting and stuff you do, a v-box will be perfect.
HOT HOT HOT today!!!:dizzy: I feel dizzy too, I think the heat got to me a lil today:dizzy: Just threw out my lawn boy today since it was junk and it came from the garbage anyhow. Need to get a good pushmower again. Thinking about getting a little John Deere 21 or something.
Everyone take car and keep up on the fluids in this heat!!!

Tom, hey whats going on?? I talked to my uniform guy today, hes going to be calling you about your uniform program. His names Joe, hes great to work with.
On a diffent note, I have about 25 yards of mulch, to install right down town. we need to talk, and setup a time that you can come down and help drive truck, so we can get it nocked out. Between the flatbed & Dump I think it will be EZ to do that in a day.
I'll call you later.

What are you trying to say Ronnie? That my wall looks like poop?? I like it, I didnt pick out the brick, the customer did and I did the work. I didnt have a chop saw, so I split all of the block that needed it by hand with a chisel and hammer. That worked nice though, since it faced the block real nice. But say what you want, I like it and am proud of it!!!!:weightlifter: If you dont like it, poo on you:laugh: :gunsfirin j/k

I agree walker, its a good looking wall. I'd put my name on that wall. Great job Tom. If you keep doing them and you dont want to buy a cut off saw.
You can use a 4" grinder w/ Dim. Blade to cut them. We use one for making small cuts and stuff.

Yes Ronnie, I know you were dicking with me, I was just giving it back. My friggin starter died in my truck, so now I gotta get a new one in today, and put it in out in the rain:cry: But at least we are getting rain!!!!
But thanks for the compliments on the wall. It took me 6 hours to put it in, and thats by my self. Yes Josh, that black mulch really sets off the white block. The customer originally wanted red mulch:hammerhead: and I refused and sold him on the black mulch. I hate red mulch.
But now I gotta get ready to go out and flap some wet a$$ grass. I think I am suffering from anal glacouma today, cause I just cant see my ass going to work today!!

The grass cutting is slowing down big time on some properties. Going to 14 days on some of them. I should sneak over and turn the sprinklers on for them.lol

Well, I got the trailer. THANKS SO MUCH BRANDON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:waving: It was a pleasure meeting you as well. The trailer is awesome!! I just put my racks on it and I love it!!! Although my Scag WB looks a little lonely back there:cry: Now I have an excuse to get the Tiger Cub, lol. That thing just barely fit in my dad's garage. The side I use is a single car size. The back is against my plow which is also against the back wall, and the trailer is against that and only has one foot of room in front of the tongue and the door. 10x bigger than what I had.
Ronnie, thanks for tagging along. That auction was cool. It was crazy to see pallets of computers and such just sitting there. I still think we should have gotten a pallet of riot helmets ,lol:laugh: :)
Well gentlemen, yet another scorcher for monday. A few of the lawns are on mow and go or bi-weekly. It is getting real bad. Instead of the snow dance we all wanted back in December and January, we need to break out the rain dance for June/July!!!!

:waving: Hey guys, I need help on pricing, I have a new customer in the New Albany neighborhood and don't know what a reasonable price would be. They need to have their shrubs cleaned up one or two times a month. How much would one charge for this service (there are shrubs and trees all around the house and the perimeter of the property). In addition to the trimming, they need the clippings cleaned up(this is the reason why the last guy is no longer doing this job). I would estimate two or three hours on site or this job each time. Thanks for you input...

two to three hours on site with at least an hour of drive time to get there and back. Your price will depend on your costs, I would not got any lower than 40 per man hour. That is me though. Waht is your tjme worth? Provide quality worK? Great service and show up when you tell them? That all figures in. Good luck.

I hate to say this we got some rain today too with more to come. Only calling for a total of 1/2 to 1 inch of rain. IMO that is not going to do squat. Ground is way to dry. We need a steady rain all night and all day to do some good.

Alot of the lawns are turning into mow and goes.......cut, edge a few spots if need be, blow off and run. Sometimes just cut and blow off with the mower. Sounds crappy, but nothing else to do!!! I have sent my customers a letter saying I will be weedwacking every other week or when it needs it so as not to cause burning out of the edges, etc. I sent this so when they see me roll in cut blow and leave they dont get pissed and call. Kinda weird driving around today though, usually there are 9 billion trucks and trailers full of mowers running around, but there were maybe 10 different lco's out and about. I know the feeling JP. We have not gotten a single drop probably since early to mid June. We would need several days of good steady rain to make up for this lack of rain we have gotten. Basically now I am only doing my 2 commercials, cause for some reason they always have some growth, and I can still bill em if I only even just pick up some trash and blow down the parking lots. At least that is some $$$.
Now that a good portion of the country is under a drought and not as many people are working as much or making $$$, its time to raise the damn gas prices!!!:hammerhead: They gotta make sure they can still kick the little guy when hes down. Bastards
Gas prices shoot. I just saw it at 3.19 today. What the heck is that. It was just up to 2.99 yesterday when I went and got gas.
Sydenstricker Landscaping
07-10-2007, 09:34 PM
Its crazy. It was 2.79 here yesterday and now 3.19 today. This whole gas price fluctuation of 20-30 cents or more at time is a little rediculous. But you gotta have gas to work, so just have to suck up and pay it. Oh well

I would use this time to get more work, but people here would laugh and ask if I was ok. So just sit, twiddle my thumbs and not do any nonsense spending/driving for a bit, until things pick up. Although I did drive around and look at a few of my lawns, I will def. need the bagger for them if I actually cut next week. the trees are just doing that to reduce the surface area of the tree. that way the amount of water they give of through transporation reduces even the trees try and save water. Now is a gooc time to prune those ornamentals help them out through the heat. I think we'll be okay in August.

Tom, whats going on? Got the new dump omost ready, should be done by next week :)
What's up fellas? I am really thinking I might hit everything this week. I cut two routes on Monday and Tuesday last week and just did some drive bys on those and they are growing. If I did this all my routes wouild be right where they should be as in the order that I do them. But on the other hand the yards I did today (clintonville for Shawn) just did not grow much in two weeks. Decisiions, Decisions, and more decisions.

Not much JP, how have you been?? I cut my whole route last week, and they all had decent growth since we have gotten some rain and the temps have been milder. So hopefully, everything is back on track for weekly maintenance.
Ronnie, you still working on that damn dump??? LOL!!! :) You missed mulching season with it!! Well at least you will have it for leaf collection this fall. You still gonna get a leaf vac to put on the dump????

I wont need a vac truck Ronnie. Half of my accounts have woods to blow/dump the leaves into. The rest save for like 2 that I will have to haul, the city comes once a week and has big ass leaf vacs to come suck the piles off of the treelawns.

Tom and Ron,
You guys holding down the fort in the Northern part for us Ohio guys. We have gotten some rain here as of late. One heck of a thunderstorm at 8 this morning. Yards are starting to green up pretty good. Some are still hurting but for the most part greening up. Hitting it on Friday to get some done. I actually got a call from a customer saying to come cut it. She was one complaing when I was cleaning it up two weeks ago. Her home is for sale so I was trying to make it look good. Told her I would see her in the morning. Have a couple of hedge jobs to get done as well, so things are picking back up for us in Columbus. Stay cool and have a great Friday guys.

Getting a little rain here now too. Most of them got fertilized a week or so ago, so this rain will help soak it in and green em up, hopefully. It is a real nice slow steady rain that will soak in and not just run off. Went and looked at a new lawn today, yes I know its sunday but w/e. It is really overgrown, their landscaper just stopped showing up about a month ago and never called. They paid their bill on time, but he just quit. So I will get some pics of before and after. It is roughly 15 inches tall in some spots, others maybe 6-7 inches. So now I will really get to see what my Tiger Cub is made of!!:)

It isnt a new one, but I love it!!!!!!!! On the lawns I use it at now, they go by sooooo much quicker. Especially at the apartment complex I do. Kinda sucked with a belt W/B. You cant go wrong with Scag, they are built like brick sh*t houses and will last you a very long time. If you have anymore questions about Scag, just ask and I will try to help you.
Hi guys, it is nasty outside that is for sure.Heat index of 102 outside right now and they issued this a little bit ago. Josh how bad is it in Cincy. I know it can get real bad down there especially in the downtown area. I think you guys are under a heat warning if I heard right. Stay cool everyone and drink lots of fluids. with this heat the grass won't be doing to much that is for sure. Except for browning out.

Nope Shawn, I am not laughing. If it was not as hot and humid I might be chuckling but this is some dangerous heat and humidity that we have right now. I have the a/c on in between the yards to help cool down. You need to take care of yourself after the practices and not worry to much about your yards right now. Do a few a day until it cools down. Calling for it to be in the 90's until the middle of August. I think once the yards are cut they will be going dormant again. Most of them are green right now but wait until next week.
JP

Yes you need a vendor's license to collect sales tax.

Thanks Drew and JP:waving: I do already have my service vendors license and have been collecting and paying sales tax. It was another guy who owns an lco that hates me and tries his best to piss me off or put me down in any way he can. He said you dont charge sales tax on grass cutting or snow removal. He told me he doesnt, just on everything else. But thanks again guys!!
Tom I hope you printed that stuff off from that link and handed it to him. I hope he was just messing with you and is collecting the tax himself. How much rain did you guys get up there today? We had a downpour today and Just kept on cutting. It gave me a bath and cleaned the sweat and dirt off of me. Then the sun came back out and it got even nastier than it was before the rain.
