Let's be honest, we're all trying to make as much as we can. So here's the question. Do you full timers, or frankly anyone, report when someone pays you cash? I know I will not. Just bein' honest. But wanted to know what the general consensus was out there.

I do man, because what goes around comes around. If you sow dishonesty your going to get it in return. It pays to be honest.

how could they really track that down. Car washes, mechanics, other service businesses, fully certified businesses, do this all the time. You going to tell me there's no one out there who just pockets the cash and doesn't report. That's bull and you know it.

You !!! Struck a wrong cord with me bud. I did not say that there was no one out there that would pocket the cash and not report. I said I report what I make (cash etc.). I don't even think you read my post. Your new to this site with your 8 post. Don't go getting mad at me for your dishonesty. Honesty is the best policy.

first off, what the hell does 8 or 800 posts have to do with honesty? That was dumb. Anyway...
I was not calling you a liar. I'm sure you report and that's fine with me.
I was calling all the others out there who don't report cash. Wanted to get there feelings on it. Actually, I like your post too. Want to hear from those that do in fact report cash. So take a Valium and relax. Wasn't calling you anything.
Just looking to see the general feeling about what people do when they get paid cash.
I pocket that instantly.
Just me though.

Only time I ever see cash is for snowplowing. That goes right to the ole pocket. Most of it gets spent in gas anyway that night for plowing. Kinda hard to report something that you spend almost immediatly. But I think during the regular season, if it is 100 bucks or more, I would report. You never know who could call and turn you in. I always want to cover my ass. It is just part of the game I guess.

Not reporting the cash business is illegal. It is also illegal to have customers make out checks to you in your name, rather than business name, and going to THEIR bank and cashing the checks. That would be wrong, since you would never get caught.
I always wondered if it is illegal to trade services with a friend. Like...I mow your lawn, and you build my deck. Is that illegal?

And I now know why I couldnt PM you back - Rules state you have to be a member a least 10 days ( Only since March 5th ) and have at least 10 posts.
All that info I put on Off topic forum was deleted - they thought I was a spammer. Even the next day I replied to you with a post about the dates you requested and they deleted that too. I didnt want to leave you hanging on that... sorry.

I very rarely ever get cash, but when I do, report any cash I receive as income, just as I do when I get paid by check. Some checks are written to me and some to the business, as long as my deposits match the amount of my invoices, all is fine.
You seem pretty proud of the fact that you are breaking the law and cheating the American Public by tax evasion, and to post something like that on the Internet for anyone to see is really pretty stupid. Are you that hard up for $$ that you can not pay your taxes?

Amen brother, people take this site way to serious! Like this is the authority for how to run a successful lawn business. I come here for the humor, but would never come here for some "honest/solid business advice"
Anyway, to answer your original post. CASH IS KING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats all I am saying about that....

I pocket some cash, but it's so little I forget when and how much. Hell, the other day, a customer wrote me a check for $100 out to my name and I deposited it anyway. I usually report all. I have an acccountant and enough write-offs, so I'm not letting myself get hosed. I like to think of myself as a good American. Here's my money, go kill some evil-doers.:usflag:
