A couple of months ago I swapped out my 02 F350 PSD 4x4 auto crew for the EXACT new truck (07) model.

The shift pattern on my new one is like night and day! This new one stays in the power band much more efficiently. It seems like It now has a 6speed transmission w/od. Shifting between gears is seamless.

Did Ford do something to there tranny's since 02?

My 02 was my daily driver, so I knew it like the back of my hand. There's was something done somewhere along the line to make that new one shift like that! Anybody notice the same?

You used to have a 7.3L with 4 speed automatic. Now you have a 6.0L with 5 speed torqueshift automatic.

The 6.0L likes to rev a little higher than the 7.3 so the torqueshift is designed to work with it that way.:)

Ah Ha,

That would explain it, I assume your 05 has the same tranny also- gotta love it!

Just to through this out there, my best friend (Chevy guy) was in my truck last week and even he had to admit that the my truck was way more smoother than his HD Silverado- that should get GM guys attention :weightlifter:

The new torqshift is actually a 6 speed not techniclly but there's actually 2 differnt second gears which the trany chooses the best one for your driving conditions a that time. I love my 05 f250 powerstroke:usflag: :usflag:

well yeh, when they got a new engine a trans comes with it, it came out in 03 with the 6.0. did they not tell you that when you bought it? the torqshift trans is a much much better trans than the 4R100. And yes its one of the smoothest shifting trans on the market. and is awesome in tow haul mode, has a great downshift feature. you will love it. and yes it will shift 6 times. just like your 7.3 auto shifted 5 times.

This should probably in a new thread, but I just received in the mail yesterday that Ford has increased my bumper to bumper to 5yr. 60,000 miles and if I remember correctly and the roadside maintenance is included w/no deductible!

The truck is now going on 4months old, I guess they're (Ford) is keeping up with the Jones's. Hell, I'm not complaining. Actually that extended warranty wasn't part of the deal when I purchased the truck, but they went ahead and gave it to me.

Even you GM and Dodge guys got to admit that, that was pretty white of Ford to do that:clapping:
