I passed out flyers last night and made a few mistakes. First one is that I taped them to the mailboxes. Second on is that I used double sided tape so that the presentation would look a little better. Turns out that double sided tape is a little stickier than I thought. Got a call from a homeowner today. She wasn't too happy that the glue won't come off here mailbox. I'm gonna head out there after work with some nailpolish remover and cotton balls. Gonna test the nailpolish remover on another painted surface first to make sure it doesn't take the paint off. But boy this is a disheartening experience that has made me feel like a dumba@#. Won't do that again. Looks like I learned my first lesson - a little ealier than I was expecting to. Feel free to laugh guys and make some cheap comments. I'm not posting this for my own pleasure. Thought I'de give some of you a good laugh for the night:)

lol its happens to everyone man. I remember I felt like a dumbass when I was showing my mom and stepdad my first ZTR. I flew up the side of their house,(about the width of the deck) and booped the brand new air conditioner off the pad. My step dad is one of the most anal people you will ever meet and I swear im never gonna hear the end of it lol. Nothing broke, just a few cooling fins bent. Before you know it you will be looking back laughing at some of the noobie mistakes.
Cheers

How many of these did you stick to mailboxes with this tape? You may need to add a line of work to your flyers.

Well I hope all the newbies see this thread! I just got back from the woman's house. Her husband came outside, asked me what I was doin and then went back in. Obviously he not only didn't notice but didn't care either. Unfortunatley that tape goo hardened so I'm gonna try some Goo Gone tomorrow and if that don't work then they'll be gettin a new mailbox. I think the tape didn't come off cuz their mailbox has a flat paint instead of a gloss. Lesson learned I just hope I don't get any more calls

WD-40 or vegetable oil will do the trick. Just imagine if you would've done this to peoples' front doors? Worse yet, - wood stained?

I'm just gonna get the stuff off and need be I'll repaint it for them. I also figured I'de send them an apology letter on company letterhead with some sort of compensation. I figured like a twenty dollar gift certificate to the movies or somethin. Sends a whole family friendly message. Also gives more sincerity to the apology. You think that's goin to far?????

I think you are making a mountain out of a mole hill. If you want to, go back and make sure you get the crap off the box. Other than that, I wouldn't worry about it any more. If you compare that to other stupid things people have done... your story pales in comparison! haha

So I went back to the lady's house this morning to try and remover the rest of the tape but it didn't totally work. There is still a thin and hard but barely noticeable film where the tape was. The ironic thing is that this woman called me acting like I was some sort of vandal and she emphasized removing the tape without doing any damage to her mailbox. Her mailbox by the way, was quite rusty and dilapidated for being in such a ritzy community.

The first time I passed out fliers, I taped them to the mailboxes just as you did. I was in my own neighborhood, and I had a guy call me (first call BTW) and tell me that the tape "RUINED" his mailbox and now he has to clean it or get another. He said it was not a good impression for my company and he hung up. I found out later that by neighbor was putting out invitations to a craft party the same way a few days before, and that guy was in his yard and scoffed at her and told her not to tape anything to his box.
Some people just get anal over the least little things.
BTW, I know it is illegal to put fliers on the mailbox, but so is driving faster than the posted speedlimit..........
