I have a 2000 Snapper 48" walk behind and I had the starter bench tested and they said it was ok. When you try and start it.....only make a click noise. When I jump the solenoid and turn they key ....presto it starts. Wondering if I could possibly have a bad solenoid? How do I chcek if it is bad? Also, if that is not the problem what else could it be?

Could be a saftey switch relay. (like a 1" square cube) they can be mounted various places. Iv'e had several go bad and have had this very thing happen. Heck, I carry a peice of wire in the tool box just in case. I cn use it to jumper between the Positive of the battery to the starter solinoid input (where the small wire hooks too)

If Your Solenoid Clicks But Your Starter Wont Turn Take A Voltmeter Ar Test Light And Check The Voltage On The Starter Side Of The Solenoid When You Turn The Key. If The Solenoid Clicks And You Have No Reading On That Side The Connection The Solenoid Is Bad, Replace It. Heck There Only Ten Bucks Or So.

I recently purchased a starter solenoid from O'reilley's for $8.00. If this doesn't fix your problem, you are only out $8.00.

It was a bad solenoid! Only 10.00 to replace.
