Is your Lesco 36" a hydro or belt drive?

I have a Lesco 36" belt drive. I don't like it very much. The belts slip when you mow wet grass and the bushings in the front wheels wear out very fast. The only thing I can tell you is to be sure to keep the adjustments correct for the levers, or you will be wrestling a bear.

I have a 52 Lesco belt drive I changed the pistol grips for a Toro T
bar. I changed it from a bear to a machine that was easy to use.

I have always used pistal grips..... Last week at the expo I demoed a toro with a t-bar for the first time. I felt like i had no control of the mower and could just make as sharp of maneuvers. I guess it takes time to get used to.... but for now ill stick with pistle grips!

I have the same experience with the Lesco's as Grass Chopper.. I have both a 36 and a 48.. Found that the bronze bushings in the front castors wear really fast and they are horrible in wet grass. But other than that I have no problems with them .. Mine have 14hp kawis' and they are strong, Bet once they get out of adjustment You are definatly fighting the machine and your not gonna win.. I have also had the drive pullys seem to wear faster than the ones on my scag.. I have noticed that the 48 cuts nicer than the 36 for some reason ?

I grease the front castors daily. I use Wolf's Head red grease
My friend has a 48 lesco cuts better than 52 in the wet. but dry
the 52 is better. The 36 is 2/3 of the 52 both use 18" blades.
I' ve had the T bar on since 1996. before that a 48 Scag.
The 48 lesco has more weight in the front does not bounce.
The 52 is short 36" wheelbase compared to 44" for the 48.
I also changed engines from kawi 540 17hp elec start
to a 14 Kawi pull start. to lower the weight on the rear tires.
with the 17 it would slide to much. 1999 Ibought a Scag STHM
61 rider deck is very simliar to the lesco. Bought a turbo bafflefor
for lesco to lessen clumping

mowinlawn still hasn't posted what his problem is with his mower.
but as for mine, an older lesco 48 belt with a 14 kaw, I am very happy all things considered. I endorse this unit.
any belt slippage problems I had were fixed last year when I changed the gear shaft pulleys. now it pulls like a mule, wet or dry.
I've replaced my front caster shaft bushings one time. it was no big deal whatsoever, cost just a few bucks and made no big difference to anything that I could tell on the mower. it'll be a long time before I replace them again, worn out or not,

Had me a Lesco 54 ZTR for about 1 year, Had more things go wrong with this mower than any other mow i ever had. Now i
own two DIXIE CHOPPERS and so far the only thing that has gone wrong is that i have had 2 flat tires and it was the same tire.:blob1: :blob3: :blob2:

You have to replace the front bushings on the Lesco or the front tires will rub against the deck and it is impossible to control.

A turbo baffle is a Scag part it bolts between the discharge and the spindle, it prevents grass from catching on the lower corner.
I put one on my STHM 61. The 52 lesco and the 61 Scag are similiar. Ordered one for lesco will keep you informed.
