Follow-up to the Post-It note thing...

Ok, I read every post in the post-it note advertising thread. After some thought and consultation with my business adviser (my son) I have decided to use them this year instead of door hangers.

I read in the thread that someone was sticking them to mailboxes. Isn't this a no-no. As I understand it, advertising materials may not be placed in or on mailboxes... right?

So, I went to my local newspaper office to inquire about having them stuck to the front page. The lady at the desk informed me that "no reputable newspaper would ever stick something to the front page." She went on to show me their business directory advertising rates. Has this happened to anyone else?

Even without the newspaper thing, I feel these notes are still better than door hangers or fliers.

In the end, I suppose I'll break out one of my new company logo'd t-shirts and go door to door with a hand full of post-it notes trying to find a smooth flat surface to cover.

i have recieved a sunday paper with a big sticky across the front page. it pissed me off pretty good too cause when i pulled it off it tore half of the paper off

If it was a true post it note, it wouldn't have ripped the newspaper. Post it notes were designed specifically to stick to things without ruining them.:rolleyes:

The Columbus Dispatch here does it all the time, and I would say they are a pretty reputable (and big) newspaper.

I'm gonna call the paper in question Monday and ask to speak to someone in the advertising department. I've spoken to numerous people today that all say they've received that newspaper in the past with notes stuck to the front page. I don't know if that lady was new or just didn't know. Either way, I'll try again on Monday.

For those of you that have went this route, what was the cost of having them delivered that way?
