How do I get into commerical lawn/landscape

How do I get into commerical lawn and landscape. Is it as easy as going to the business and asking for the general manager or is there a formal bidding process with the main store/office? I am new and only have resident accounts, but trying to expand. if someone could help me it it would be greatley appreicated!
