Is the '07 XR7 going to be any different than my '06 ? I have a 60" sitting at the dealer now, he told me that hustler is shipping decks for southern or northern regions.. I hope it's more than last years deck with the spacers and triangle fillers added.. I'm still not happy with the cut on my 66"
Any info would be great..

Yes, we are shipping 2 different versions.
Was your 66" updated last fall?

Yeah, my 66" has been updated with marginal results.. I have a lot of high end accounts, Res. and Commercial that like the H.O.C. 3+ inches.. I really need some results for that level.. Back to my original ? Is this '07 I'm about to receive a last years deck with the "Kit" or is it a different design for the cool season?
Thanks, Chad

If it were me, I would want a quality demo in the conditions that give you the most concern. I am not happy with my 60" and the variety of kits I tried.
Good Luck

There have been some changes, 1 of which is elimintaing the free flow triangles in the rear of the deck.
We also added front baffles.
I am not sure your deck was updated all the way was it?
You need to talk to your dealer and he can explain.

We're there any updates to the orignal (nonXR7) decks?

In mid 2005 we enlarged the discharge opening and went to a flat blade (Fusion, sharpened to almost the center) instead of the original offset blades.
This was a product improvement, not a update.

I saw my '07 at the dealer the other day, Looks as though the deck is made to be as "deep" in the front as my '06 with the filler plate.. Between that and the elimination of the free flow triangles it should be a good cut, in theory... I will find out within a week or two won't know for sure until we get a good stand here.....
I am satisfied that I did'nt receive the same '06 deck with the extra iron installed.. That would have been a disapointment.. If this cuts better I will be looking to dump my '06 sooner than scheduled..

How can you tell if you are getting the newest version from the dealer? Are they decks above a certain serial number? My local dealer has several and I would like to make sure I am getting the latest and greatest.

The updated decks are identical to the new decks coming off the line today, you would have a hard time telling the difference.
But yes, the new deck is differentiated by a serial # break.

Imow4u2, when you get ready to dump that 06, let me know. Im in Iowa also. Just got a new 28efi, but with some new accounts coming in I may need a third unit. Id like to have a 66 as well, keep me posted on your decision.

If I'm satisfied with the cut it will be next season and probably 6 to 700 hours.. If the New deck is a large improvement at 3.5+ H.O.C. I may trade mid season..

How can we tell? What is the difference in the serial number ... or in other words, what identifying number do we look for to recognize the new deck?

And is there a standard number to look for? I found a dealer in Texas I am considering giving all my business to that has a 60/28 EFI unit. It has an XR7 however they have had the unit aprox. 9 months and just put them together a couple of months ago. With that said I would rather not end up with a deck that requires an "update" fix. I would rather have a deck that has all parts installed and welded at the factory. What should I look for?

It is done by a serial # break, I don't have the information on the # that they started with, I will see what I can find.

See my post above...
The baffles are bolted in at the factory, they are not welded, so they are identical to the units built before the serial # break that can have them bolted in.

We cut some commercials yesterday, before the rain... Looks better than my 66 at 3.5 inches.. Seemed to clump less too in the soggy conditons we're experiencing.. The plate that is bolted in is a lot simpler than the "fix" of last season.. It does'nt show from the front edge of the deck... The elimination of the FFT's has helped alot it looks more like a mower deck..

Check with your dealer, if your are in texas, you may not want the same deck we use up here in iowa--different conditions. Your dealer may not be able to get the deck we use, I don't know. That's why hustler has may the changes, to accommodate operators in the right conditions. A dealer in texas may not even know about a "northern deck". Don't jump to conclusions yet.

I certainly will. We are probably within a week of starting, except for this cold snap. I really didnt have any complaints about the power on the 27KOH, Im mainly hoping for fuel economy out of the 28EFI. B&G, I also got the Bac-Vac installed yesterday, Im really itching to clean up a few yards and try it out.

Cleaned up a set of condos today with the new 28efi and bac vac. I dont know as though I would want any less power than the 28 with the bac vac. It is a sweet unit, but it dogs the engine way down when you engage. Still plenty of power once you are going though. Bac vac works slick, our city has curbside pickup, so we just back to the curb and dump. So far so good!
