I was wondering if anyone has any good ideas on where/ how to mount lights on my liquid cooled lazer. I've been thinking about doing it but I haven't found a good spot to mount them and haven't figureed a good way to wire it . Thanks

What do you plan on doing, starting a second or third shift cutting operation? LOL

Yah, i figured I could offer 24 hour service :D Since we work like 12 hrs a day allready we'd only have to add a second shift. Anywaay I was thinking that maybe I could mount the lights behingd the seat since it's got the hood thing for the lc, what do you guys think? Thanks

I'm not sure what the Lazer seat is like but on my Walker's and Pro Z I mounted them beside the armrests. I bought the ones for the first Walker and after seeing how easy they are to make I made the ones for the other machines. I just did them on my MTD Pro Z and used them tonight for the first time. I bought a set of off road truck lights, man are they bright. I use a old style floor mounted dimmer switch from TSC and mounted it beside the throttle.

My dealer always mounts lights on lasers. Some how runs the power through the key. He usually mounts them on the sides by the gas tanks, I'll see if I can get a pic.

You may want to think this through. Have you ever ( outside of driving a car/truck) driven a piece of machinery at night? No matter where or how many lights you mount, you are going to cast shadows. And in those shadows will lerk lawn rakes, baseballs, rocks, stepping stones and other things you cant see unless it is daylight. Do you really want to chance that? I'm not being negative to your idea. In fact, I think that a person who is willing to work hard to get the job done right and on time is commendable. But, you need to work smarter, not harder.

Hey deason, I've seen equipment being run at night. Nobody said it was very smart but hey. Saw an excavator once, and tractors too. I wanted to put lights on my 21" and Groundsmaster. The 21" wouldn't work I don't think...

you have to be really carefull b/c it is dangerous.

I have two generic KC lights mounted on my 52" WB and if i leave them on for more than a couple of hours i really run my battery down. But if you check to make sure that your alternator can handle the wattage then there should be no problem. I am using two 100w lights. I bought my lights from the automotive section of walmart with all the wiring and switches needed. Good luck.

PS. if you buy lights make sure that they have the beam spread that you are looking for. some are very thin and have to be mounted a certain way.

Scag48, that is my point excactly. Sometimes we do things that are in favor of beating things called Weather and Time. My worst experience was with a JD 7720 combine and a 3 ft diameter hickory stump ( at night). Not very pretty, but it didnt make me stop at dusk either. I know that 50" cutting deck verus a 24' header is a little different, but the same principle. If you do it, just be safe. :D

Thanks for the ideas, if anyone could get a picture that would be great.

About working in the dark, this time of year we barly ever work untill it's darkk but in the fall when it getts dark early we work untill dark and we are usually loading up or just finishing up when it's dark. No matter what we're still gonna do it so it's proboly alot safer to have lights than be running equipment blindly like where used to. We don't go start jobs that late but they still gotta be finished. :rolleyes:

I have mowed in the dark for the past 8 years and never have any problems. In the summer ,when it is 100+ degrees, we start mowing large commercial properties at 4:00 am. WE have lights on all of our ZTRs.

I put lights on my Toro Z master 62 inch, I got pictures but not sure how to post them.

I bought to high intensity driving lights and 2 " L" brackets at the hardware store. Used the two holes in the frame just infront of the fuel tanks.

Bought a push pull switch and fuse holder. They work great. Also made a hitch and saved that 50.00 as well.

I have a light mounted on my Lazer, and it is mounted in a well positioned place, and looks just like factory equipment. Here's how I did it. The mounting bracket is made from a piece of angle iron, and after doing some measuring and trajection experimentation, I cut a 90 degree "V" wedge out of it allowing me to bend it 90 degrees to form an L (but upside down) that is about 2 and a half feet tall, and the top stands out about 3 inches. I then welded it where the the bend comes together and the notch was cut. The outside of the bend is nice and round and smooth. This bracket was then marked and drilled for the holes and painted a red that matches the Exmark red. I bolted the bracket to the outside of the plate that the height adjustment is on. A hole is already in the bracket where a bolt runs through. THIS is one that was marked where to drill in the bracket. It (the bracket) runs right up along side of the plate that holds the height adjustment lever, towards the back, and the bottom of the angle iron bracket rides right on the chassis part that runs horizontal front to back and protrudes out a bit. The way I got this length (height) for the light, was that this is the point that the light clears the top of the foot pedal for the deck assist. It's about between my elbow and my shoulder, height wise, and is a little less than a foot out from the side of the seat, and doesn't stick out any wider than a gas tank for clearance. I have a 12 volt utility light, like the ones you get from Quality Farm and Fleet mounted on it, and is wired directly to the battery using a toggle switch mounted on the back of the bracket post and ran through a fusable link. It's kind of nice, with it's handiness because I don't have to start up the mower if I need a light for something, especially on the trailer. I just click the switch, and there it is. I did a little adjusting and pointing of the light before tightening it up, and it works great, putting out ample light to see and operate safely and effectively. Sorry for the length of the post. :D
