What are you guys paying for Lazers this year. I was talking to a local salesman and he was shooting some really high prices (Even for the AS series). I wasn't in the market to buy of course but just keeping up with prices. I think he priced the AS up in the 9's with the 28 Kaw. I think I gave $8200 for my regular 27 hp 60" Lazer in 05. Been worth every penny and then some.

I just called K&T Sawshop in Somerset. I could tell the salesman wasn't really up on his equipment. I was just checking prices, no doubt they would have come down if I had been there. When I call for prices I expect them to be a little on the high side before bargaining begins. I just had some time on my hands and wanted to know how they had them priced. I have one 05 Lazer and the new Scag so I won't be needing anything for a long time. But the AS series has smaller air filled tires in front, smaller tanks, slower wheel motors, etc, etc so I was surprised he started at such a high figure. It is the Lazer at the most basic level (but the deck may be better).

Where do you shop in Albany??? Every store has McWhorter on it (Joke). K&T will usually make you a good deal but you have to twist their arm a bit.

That's right in line with Scag prices but with a 61" deck. The 35 briggs and the 29 Kaw have been going in the mid 10's.

Sounds good but Exmark is only putting the 25 Kohler and 28 Kaw on the 60" AS series for 07 according to the web page. I think it's been a while since they mixed a 23 Kohler and the 60" deck. I'm just going by the website. I thought they only put 25 Kohlers on the 60" deck in 06. I'm not sure but you could check.

Laser AS 23 Kohler 60" $6,700.00 (2007) model

Unless you made a typo, the 23hp is not used in 07. It's a 25 for 07. That model retails for a sale price of $7999.99. Dealer isn't making that kinda of money on the machine I can assure you.

No wonder they are selling it to you for less than dealer cost. They probably got a kick back from their distributor.

Exmark Sale Price on the Lazer AS 28hp kawi w/ 60" deck is $8799.99

In comparrison, a Lazer HP with the 27 koh w/ 56" triton is $8899.99

AS is clearly the better value.

06 Exmark 27hp Liquid Cooled 60" for 9,200.00

I didn't talk to James or Tim. They hire salesmen, some part time. Not even sure he was a sales man. And yes they will bargin with you when you go in and usually make you a good deal. If you talk to James or Tim you can get something done. But they are not top notch in customer support. I had to complain to Exmark because of bad comunication and slow repairs. The phone usaully rings 15 times if its not busy before you get an answer and then the guy on the phone tries to blow you off. They are understaffed and it's hard to get anything done and I told them and Exmark that they are not living up to the Exmark claim to service. When I finally did get to talk to manager Tim (I believe) he apoligized for bad service. He also forgot I was commercial and they left me without a mower for 3 weeks. He apologized for that also and gave me a Dixie. I think the owner and manager are nice guys but the staff seems overwhelmed, I usually have to wait in a long line at the service desk and rarely can get any info over the phone. If you have had great service from them good for you. I haven't and let them and Exmark know. When I bought the model on display had rust and corrosion from sitting out and I refused to take that one. The salesman said that's just how it is take it or leave it. So I had to go up the chain of command to get them to get me one out of the crate or I was leaving. They finally did and the mechanic said he didn't blame me, why pay a new price and get one that has already go corrosion and rust.

Heres the story. I called abut an Exmark AS that was leaking a little oil around the wheel motor. They (K&T) said "RUSH" it up here, it needs to be fixed right away! So right in the middle of mowing season I rushed it up there thinking they were going to jump on it right away. Well 3 weeks of phone calls they knew nothing so I notified Exmark about the poor service and the manager contacted me and apologized for the bad service gave me a Dixie for a loaner (because he forgot I was commercial) and got the wheel motor fixed. The store manager was very nice after he found out about the problem but if you need something fixed in a hurry it was a bad experience for me. This is a true story and I'm not trying to knock them. That's just the way it happened. I would buy from them again but I would go right to the top to buy and not fool with the hired help. Same for service. All this was back in 04 so maybe things have improved.

A growing and expanding business keeps me dealing with this stuff 24 hours a day, I just couldn't take spending more time discussing it and reading it here. Not to mention the new baby that took all my sleep. haha.

I just bought the 60" Lazer, 28 HP Kohler with EFI for $9999. My dealer is great with commercial guys. He often has my mower back same day, never more then next day if they have needed parts in stock. I went in today and overheard the owner telling a homeowner that it is a week turn around time for his mower. I was there to pick up the mower I brought in yesterday. He is the type of dealer that I will buy from no matter what he is selling. If he stopped selling Exmark tomorrow I would stop buying Exmark and buy whatever he was selling. In my opinion I buy the service not the machine.

I know where you are coming from. Thats the reason I am never here.

We have both come a long way since joining this site, and we met and became friends and have stayed in touch. You know what you are talking about my friend.

We talked about the Exmark AS 60" 28 hp Kawasaki and what you told me is mostly the reason I bought it. No regrets at all.
We both got good deals on the same kind of machine. I paid a little less because sales tax is less in Mississippi.:)

Also our Exmark sales rep Matt, is a likable guy [friend] and is a customer...:)

I am looking to buy my dealers 56" demo Trident 23 Kawasaki at the end of the season...

I am running my Hustler Z also. It is a favorite. Can't say enough about Hustler.

Boy... you're not kidding!!!

You and I know this is true, yet more than half this board insist that if it is a brand name like eXmark that you can easily sell it for a few hundred less than you have in it new.... WRONG!!!!

If my area was a good 'used market' I would buy all used machines and benefit from other's losses.

Yes, they are all just mowers. We are all caught up into this grass cutting thing, and which brand is best, etc. Most home owners could care less. Having grass cut is just an inconvenience for a lot of my customers and at best they appreciate a nice looking lawn. They don't care about stripes, weeds and other things in this area. I'm sure other parts of the country are different and of course I have some that do really care. But for most its just another bill a the end of the month, much like electric, cable, etc.

EMTDUCK,

I actually spent some time "scouting" GA considering relocation, and I just noticed you're in Carrollton, GA.

I actually came out 20 East as far as Carrollton GA and had a look around before turning back. I went out and looked at a house on the lake in Oak Mountain.

Do you know where that is at?
To me, it looked like I could stay busy and never leave the Club.

Just what they needed... a lawn dude with no interest in golf fishing out of the back yard.

The way you talk there, maybe I should have done that.
Might have been really easy.

I didn't really see a lot else out there though.
I didn't see any dealers out there either... but I admit I didn't look hard either.
That was near the end of my entire trip and drove a good ways to Carrollton that day.

I Have A Dealership In Carrollton And If You Went To Oak Mountain You Had To Go By Me But I Have Several Commercial Cutters That Do Very Well B/c They Do Good Work But As Far As Your Relocation Idk
But I Just Know What Goes On Around Georgia

I remember I came out 20 from Atlanta and then down to Oak Mountain. I don't remember which route I took off 20 down though. I'll sure take your word for it that I passed right by you. It was a pretty exhausting trip for me and that part of the trip was towards the tail end. So it doesn't surprise me that I missed you. I was pretty tired.

I took some time off and took a roughly planned "relocation prospecting" trip. I looked at several homes and several surrounding areas.

Basically, I caught I-85 out of North Carolina and prospected up and down the 85 corridor all the way to Atlanta. All around Lake Lanier and such. Some of the places I remember town-wise are Gainsville, Bufordm Braselton, Duluth, Decatur, and some others I'm forgetting. Then up 400 out of Atlanta... Roswell, Alpharetta, Cumming and some others up around Lake Lanier. Then I went out of Atlanta up I-75 to Symrna, Marietta, and prospected all the way up to Dalton. Then out 20 to Carrollton.

It was a long, tiring trip.

To me, Georgia seemed like a good place. I say that financially speaking, as there seem to be a good precentage of well-off people. Plenty of irrigation, and just lots-lots to do lawn and landscape wise. But it was just a tad hotter, and dang... there is a lot of warm season grass... lots of it mowed close...

Myself, I liked Oak Mountain, and there was another place higher end than there that I am forgetting... a small area up in the Dalton area... one area somewhere where there were quite a bit of horses... and I pretty much liked the whole area going up 400 to Lake Lanier.
