Does anyone out there have a lift in their shop? I have been considering one for working on the equipment but I'm not sure which ones to look into.

Funny - just yesterday I fab'ed one out of 3" I-Beam. It has an 8' span and about 8' high. The post are 10' with about 2.5' in concrete. I plan to just sling a chain over the top and hook a chain hoist to lift my mower for blade changes and stuff ..

Puttin it to use tomorrow.

HF has some A-Frame types with wheels but didn't need that myself or the expense.

Actually I was thinking a air lift table or a hydraulic lift. Something where I can lift a whole mower up in the air so I am not on my knees working on it.

I have a hydraulic motorcycle lift table I use for 21" and 36" mowers.
I am looking for a Hefty Lift for my ztr's.

I have seen the motorcycle lift tables with the side extensions. They are more what I was thinking.

Yes the heavy duty motorcycle lifts. They make extensions for them so they are 48" wide. Can you put on z on one though?

I just got the new Northern Tool Master Catalog and they have a couple of pages of different lifts in there. The sizes range from small to larger enough to lift a tractor trailer cab or a box truck. They have dual post and four corner post lifts.

Ah - something like that will set you back around $1500+. I'm cheap.

HF and like the other said Northern Tool have them.

One of my friends has a lift in his garage. It doesn't work, and I don't think he'd really use it if it did work anyways.

If you are looking for something to ift your mower up to change blades and clean the deck out with, jsut use an engine lift, put a couple of J bolts on the front of the mower, and a very good and thick fan belt and lift it up with the lift that way. They can be bought for $200.00.

Ok the motorcycle style lifts wont work. My z's with the baggers are approaching 2000lbs and most of the lift tables are 1000lb capacity. Guess I will look into something more heavy duty. I am not wanting the lift for changing blades but to simplify maintenance work. I get tired of being bent over or on my knees while working on equipment.

Both Snap-on and Harbor Freight sell mid rise lifts for cars, lifts from ground to about 4'. I use one as a welding table, and one as a mower lift. They work great-blade change in 6 minutes, and no kneeling! Price range from $1750-$5k, depending on what you want.:waving: :waving:

I am checking into a Heftee lift system - once I find out the cost I'll report about it.
