I bought a Grasshopper 223 last year with the leaf vacuum and hopper attatchments. For the most part everything works fine except if the leaves are thick , or wet. Does anyone with more experience with the Grasshopper vacuum system have any pointers to make life easier? Thnks J.T.M.

I have the same set up, what are you running for blades? I found that high lift blades work great for regular grass cutting but not so good for leaves.

I used med lift blades. The lift seems to be fine, as it picks leaves up o.k., its just the impellar and shoot seem to get clogged an awful lot for a "clog free" system.

I have the exact same system as you. You are just going to have to LEARN like I did how fast you can go. You will also learn to watch for signs, or indicators that the machine is clogging up. It does fantastic when the leaves are dry or the grass is dry. You will just have to slow down a little in the wet stuff. I also use gator blades. Later, Tony

I had a 220 and side discharged. It clogged a lot, but mostly in the Spring season.

Some people change out the pulleys during leaf season.

What do you mean by changing out the pulleys? I dont understand how that could help stop the shute from clogging. Thanks, J.T.M.

Go to a smaller spindle pulley and it will increase your blower speed and deck speed. Old deck or new?
