Aerating and Seeding Price?

What would guys charge to Aerate and Seed a 30,000 sq ft lawn?

I don't mean to question your price, but I feel I must for some personal clarification. Do you have customers that really would pay $3000 for aeration? I've rented a walk behind, commercial aerator before for about $80. I have about an acre of lawn and couldn't imagine paying so much.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I'm attempting to learn as much as possible at the moment, so please bear with me if this seems like a stupid question.

I figure 10,000 sq. ft. per hour easily unless there are all sorts of obstacles so 3 hours of aerating, maybe 15 pounds of seed ($30) and 1/2 hour to apply the seed

So 3 1/2 hours of labor = $157.50
Seed = $30.00
Rental of Aerator = $75.00
Pickup cleanind and dropoff of equipment = $45.00

$307.50 for me

If the lawn is real bad go ower it twice and charge an extra $135 labor to do so

15 pounds of seed for 30,000 sq ft? Are you crazy!? I put down 5 lbs per 1,000 sq feet. This customer would get 150 lbs of seed.

sorry i did the math in my head (and its late) t would have been 2 lbs / 1000 for a moderate overseeding so it would be 60 not 15. A real bad lawn could be 4 lbs / 1000. Thats a cool season bluegrass ryegrass fescue mix.

What do you charge by the hour Daricek, the difference might be in our hourly rate. I charge $45 per man hour for stuff like this plus rental, plus materials.

If the turf already has some grass/weeds...do you need to use straw over the seed?

well first off what part of NC are you in?

so what is your main turf type. Because if it is Bermuda,centipede,or St. aug. I would not do the aeration and seed, because the hybrid variaties of these only do well plugged, sprigged or sodded.

no just a tall fescue mix nothing special

oh I got ya, I would say for this area the going rate for aeration is about 10-15 dollars per 1000 so just add your seed cost to that along with whatever mark up to the seed you do.

i think it will be ok as long as you keep it watered good, too much weed seed in straw. jmo
