What are you cutting it with? How much did it cost you? How much is your shop payment? Utility bills? Insurance? Fuel? Only you know your expenses...The answer lies there.

For someone with an 11' WAM, about $50 / week.

OR for someone with a setup like Flex-Deck.

For someone pushing a 21" non-self propelled, about $500 / week.

You probably lie somewhere inbetween.

ok so then a bid, which i landed, of $155 per week is not to low. I bid lower than normal b/c the house is @ the entrance to a 75+ home development all worth over a million. So i figured that I could make a lil less on them, but put a sign or two outside and get more business in there. I was worried that it was to low but from the responses that I have gotton here seem to tell me that its rite in line. Thanks again guys!

It is in Line. We have 2 WAM's 11
ea. and we would charge about $150 for that but do it in 25 min. with 1 WAM , Good luck

What ground speed can the WAM run ? it would need to be around 10 mph for 25 min cut time.

We did a 3 1/2 acre lot for $100 per cut and used a 48" lazer and 50" Gravely WB. That took us about 1 hour and 10-15 minutes per cut and there was alot of trimming because it was all fenced in and had a pool and all that good stuff.

Honestly I wouldnt even touch it with a 36 WB because its going to take you about 3 hours I would guess to do it each week and I am sure they arent going to want to pay top dollar for it.

EDIT: We did it for a guy we knew and he is very wealthy. His home goes for over 2 mill. The year we did it was his last year before he retired and let his son take over his business. He was amazed how fast we got it done and how good it looked so the very next year when he retired he went and bought a brand new 60" Grasshopper ZTR and now does it himself. He came out and loved how fast the Lazer would cut and asked if he could drive it for a second so we let him (we knew him well). That was probably a mistake and may have been why he decided to buy his own ZTR. BTW the grasshopper was in the shop for hydro leaks constantly and he isnt very happy with it.

A 36" isn't designed for handling that size lot in an efficient manner, but the price for a residential 3 acre lot would range around $140 - $150 per cut or so, regardless of how long it takes. You can try a weekly scheme throughout spring but the lawn won't survive summer if cut on that high a frequency.

I do all my weekly cuttings on just that a weekly schedule. I have never heard of the grass not being able to handle the grass getting cut every week.

You MUST know what it cost you to do it. Im sure if your a one man band and only have a 36 your going to make ome money if it takes you 3 hours... but also ask the question what would happen if you could do it in an hour for a ztr and move on to 2 more clients in that same 3 hours.

The bottom is quickly falling out of the mowing industry in my area. Lawns I used to get 65 for a few years ago are now going for alomst half that.

65 x 3 = 195.00 maybe you could go as low as 180.00 but that is a low as i would go.

Damn must be nice. Around here the area is so saturated with mexican crews doing stuff dirt cheap that we can only get $30 per acre. Thats the going rate here.

move down here and have to pay our property taxes and car insurance! Then you will see that these numbers that may seem high are actually low when you factor in everything!
