I used to own a landscaping business. Last fall I got out of it, for lots of reasons. Too much time away from the family, driving all over gods green earth to give a free estimate, hording money for the winter, lack of financial stability for the wife. Anyway, I went back to the "real" world, love it, but miss the outdoors.
So, I have been trying to rack my brain for things I can do to get outdoors when the weather is nice, but won't consume my life. My idea was buying an aerator and just doing it on Saturday's. I would give folks a price range over the phone, and basically expect them to commit. I am not going to give estimates. I am also only working in a 5 mile radius of the house. I can advertise in a small paper for 40 a month.
Positives
Have another toy in the garage
Getting outdoors and dirty once a week
No need to follow-up....when its done its done.
Money to stash away for when the baby gets here.
Only about 13 weeks a year in my part.
Negatives
Time away from the family
What happens when its raining on Saturday?
Do you think $70 for 7,000 sq. ft, $10 every 1000 after is reasonable?
