I have a possible customer that want a railroad crosstie retaining wall replaced, He want new ties installed where the old ones were. Is is OK to use these on the pond since they contain creosote? I am a little worried about this job and may want to stay away from it. Any suggestions?

Just caught your post. Not around here, cresote is a no no. You will have DEP or DER in your area visiting you. Try contacting one of their offices in your area to confirm it.:)

You can't use anything treated in the water where fish or any of the eco system exist. Composite timber, plastic ties, versa lock, terra blocks, rock, etc.are some options.
