Well working out my bid pretty much almost done the wall is 326' x 10' already excavated just ready for retaining wall what would you think for the job or price

I normally get $175 a ton. I dont charge by the face foot for boulder walls. For this size wall id I could only get about $100-$125 a ton. So around $35-$40,000. The excavating is the quick part. So you are really not saving too much $ there. Questions though---easy access to the job? Can the boulders be direct shipped by semi? 10' is a high reach, have to rent a machine? All things to consider. Good luck.

I have back hoe with thumb and large skid loader. access is great its to hold up ground around a semi building. lol

also whats ur guesstimate on the tons needed i was thinking 300 but its hard since some of these boulders could weigh in at 500lbs a piece

Just remember, @ 10' high your base will have to be around 4' wide...so it will be a 6' wide footer. This wall will also need a decent batter and a large drainage zone. A 10' tall natural stone wall is something that should be engineered, so unless you are bidding off of a set of engineered plans you are in over your head. Way too much liability to think you can just build it without a stamp.

I have to agree with Chris too much liability without and engineer. I have to stop some of my account managers all the time that just see the big commissions and try to bid stuff over their heads. Countless jobs in this area are falling apart without a stamp on it and companies are being sued left and right.
