Sharpening Blades

I have a question about sharpening , I have seen afew people sharpen only one side (Bottom)of the blade when re-sharpening while others do both sides (Top and Bottom).

How many of you do both sides?
Who does only the bottom side?

What are the pros and Cons of this?

It seems to make alot sharper edge when both sides are done. I only do the bottom but am thinking about doing both sides.

I sharpen as they come new (top only), If sharpening both top and bottom or just bottom were better wouldn't you think the OEM's would do the same ?

I sharpen the top only just about every morning.

top only. Unless you chop a rock and have a healthy nick, then you have to do the bottom of both sides of the blade to even it up.

I sharpen the top of course. Then, when I'm done, I run one swipe along the bottom, at the same plane as the bottom. This really doesn't grind much steel -- it mostly just cleans the bottom and makes the edge super-sharp!
