I was watching 2 guys garage yesterday and they were doing small engine repair. He was working on a Chopper and at the end of the show, He removed the front caster's and installed new ones with springs on them.

Has anyone seen these or use them?

looks to me like it would make the mower scalp more than usual

Technically, since the deck floats, it should make for a smoother ride, while improving cut quality. (Less machine bounce)

Dixie has had those for a couple of years now and they get mixed reviews. They do work pretty good for smoothing out rough ground without scalping. The down side is if you do a lot of hilly work the mower tends to lean over more than usual.

In theory, it will make the cut uneven and so will the hustler flex forks. For some reason, though, you don't hear many complaints about them.

The floating deck would be unnaffected only if it was completely independant of the front wheels.
