View Full Version : 12 volt spreader?

I am trying to make a electric spreader to mount on the front of my mower. I am having trouble finding a motor to hook to the spreader spinner. I was just wondering if any of you have done this and if you could possibly give me some tips. I have seen them advertised but I already have all the parts needed except the motor so I though I would do it myself. By the way it is an Earthway with 100lb. hopper. Also i want to mount a spray setup to the rear of this rider. Do you have any suggestions on the type I should use for long term performance? Thanks, Josh.

It is a Honda residentiall rider that I am going to use solely as a spreader/spray rig.

The 12V motor assembly for Earthways spreader is #60253 for the M21 spreader. I do not know if it is compatable with yours. Go to
Go to the support page and you can download any parts list and manual for all earthway spreaders if you have adobe acrobat.

I built a sprayer for my Walker from parts from a farm supply store. It cost me about 200 bucks or so building from scratch. I have a 35 gal tank with a pump and 8'boom sprayer mounted on the back. If you are handy you can do the same thing for your Honda. Remember that water weighs around 8lbs per gallon so you want to mount it right. Good Luck.

Here is my Toro with electric spreader. I got it at my local Ford tractor dealer for about Can$400.
It mounts on several of my mowers using a 1" square tube.

We have a self-propelled Earthway spreader with the Honda 4 stroke engine mounted on it. Works great. Try one of these babies out.

If I remember right it is SNG corp that makes a unit that is really close to the turf tracker, only it is about half the cost. Might be well worth a look if you plan to treat a lot of lawns. We are planing to get one this fall. As of yet I have not heard about one on lawnsite so i'll post a full review when we get it.

Was it worth the $1300? Is there a deflector to keep the product off the motor? Where in VA are you?
