I've got a 30 yard mulch job with a ton of edging
to do. Would it be better to rent a bed edger or
do it by hand. I've never used one, so I dont
know if it gives the same sharp clean edges
when you do it by hand. Also, I've been charging
around $.50 per linear foot, is this a profitable price?

Yes, rent the bed edger. It makes quick work of the edging. This is the Bluebird BedBug.

I have used the bed bug before. Actually just about 2 weeks ago for the first time. I don't know if it was just the type of soil we have or if they machine was broken, but I had a heck of a time with it. The blade came off about half a dozen times. I also think it didn't help that it had rained the day before and the ground was really muddy.
I have to go back and do it over again, but the problem is the mulch has already been put down. Does anyone have any suggestions for that?

rake back most of the mulch, discard the bottom mulch if it is muddy or undesirable and touch up edges
we own a bed bug, and no problems whatsoever so far.

What kinda prices can you get with a bed edger per foot?
What if rocks are in the way, do they have to be moved back?
