Will BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A's 285's fit on my 1997 Chevy Silverado 2500? Stock suspension, torsion bars not cranked (yet)?

No they wont. They will work, just when you turn the wheels kinda sharp, they will rub the fenderwells, which isnt good for the tires. Those tires are awful big to just stuff under a stock truck like that, it will look goofy, as you will not have barely any fender clearance. I had those tires on my 94 GMC 2500 and I put a 3 inch body lift on it and the tires were fine then. It did not affect the plowing, handling, etc. The kit I got also had the parts to do everything, including raising the bumpers. I would suggest a 3 inch body lift with those tires, you will be much happier. JMO

you have the 16" rims? I have 265/75-R16's A/T's on my 16x8 rims and have no problem. You might want to consider that size instead.

I have 285/75R16's uniroyal a/t mud and snow tires on my 97 chevy 1500 4x4. The torsion bar is stock and there is no lift body or suspension. The tires have never rubbed front or back. The truck has had some serious loads (overloaded) and been used off-road on some hunting trips. The rims are the stock alum factory 6 lugs for that year called the twisted rims. One tire shop did tell me the torsion bar would have to be tourqued but that hasn't been the case. I would guess your 2500 has an even stiffer suspension.
Must use stock wheels or stock offset aftermarket wheels.
Also, BFG AT's have a more square edge design, where other manufacturers have a curved shoulder. Much like Mower tires.
I've had 265 BFG AT's rub stock and switched to another brand 265 and they were fine. All due to the square shoulder.
